My DVL 700 plays CDs and DVDs OK, but when I insert a LD and close the drawer, the player makes a buzzing noise for a while and then ejects the disc. I know this isn't a good remedy, but if I hit the player a couple of times while it is buzzing, the noise stops and the disc loads normally. Is there anything else I can do short of taking the player apart? |

I have found many people and players have this "U1" error as their players age. The loading belt and/or rubber clamp may need to be replaced. The belt is not expensive and fairly easy to replace. I gave my CLD 99 a tune up and had the belt replaced and voila, runs like a champ. I'm not saying for sure that's the problem, but it sure sounds like it. Try searching for the U1 error..... |

I 2nd that, be sure to clean the 2 Pullys before putting the new belt on, usually grease... You can read the codes in Test mode in HEX and the 700 is newer than the 704/99 series... \../ |
