| Post subject: | [DVL-700] Issue |
I recently purchased some Laser Discs and have never owned a player so I bought a DVL-700 off of eBay. It unfortunately did not work when I received it. I took the plate off and basically it powers on, but when I tray to open the disc tray it does not open nor does it look like the motor or w/e seems to be working. Just wondering where I would look into information on fixing this, how much it would cost for parts, and such. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! |

Basically it turns on and shows the lights/activity on the front, but when I click "LD Open" it just says "Open" on the front for a second and nothing happens... I do hear sounds when it is turned on, just not the anything to do with the disc drive/tray... Also after pressing "Open", "Play", etc it likes to default back to saying "Stop" on the front panel. Here is a video if it will help any: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwjqki ... lhOEE/view |

Is the drive belt ok? Might be a broken cam gear. This sits beneath the tray.... |

When you first power on the unit the pickup that is on the bottom should move to detect if a disc is in the player. If it does not then you have a pickup motor, switch, or other issue. Where is the pickup on the bottom at? Looks like you bought a unit with issues. |

Is there a possibility that there has been a disc inside during shipping that blocks the tray from ejecting? I had an experience like that. |

This is quite comon, see here: Pioneer DVL-909 problem I also have one project player with that issue but have not yet found out what's wrong with it. One of the gears was broken and I replaced it but that did not solve anything.... |
