bought this in non working condition. Gave it a closer look and found the plastic guiding rail broken inside. Replaced that, cleaned everything and the unit came alive. Cd an ld playback are ok. The thing is when it comes to dvd playback it seems unable to decide what laser to use.... loading a dvd makes the player change lasers 2 times and then eject the disc....? Changed the dvd board , no luck, replaced the laserunit.... no luck.... I did notice when it tries to play a disc the osd display shows cd while there is actually a dvd inside...? A swith or ribbon cable perhaps....? Any ideas. I' d like to figure it out |

purely the dumbest question i could ask... did you try a different brand/make of dvd? e.g. dvdr or silver dvd etc. i've had stuff like amazon's on demand dvds that dont work in 2 out of 3 dvdroms. so its possible. could be the height of the dvd from the laser. is that adjustable on your machine? |

Hi Kris, did you try to put the player in service mode ? May be this is a way to track the reason ... (download the DVL-919 service manual as the DVL-909 does not give service mode overview) BR, Edwin |

I have few standalone DVD players that will play all regions expect for the DVL-909 I have to use the remote to hack in the code for each DVD regional code. Hack the DVL-909 DVD player, I put this in the back of my less priorities but if you like to use it for science test? http://www.decuslib.com/decus/vmslt01b/ ... er909.html |

Succes today It was simply the flat cable connecting the main and dvd board! the previous owner damaged it in an attempt to repair the player. |
