Post subject:  [DVL-90] Power supply issue/question

Well to add to my other 2 player projects yesterday I picked up a DVL-90. it has a few problems but for the most part is working.
however there is an issue with the power supply, I found 2 pieces of what looks to be part the inductor metal core that have broken from the top of the "inductor" , at least I guess that's what it is, my knowledge on Power supply is pretty basic. it's labeled on the board as "L101".

I'm just trying to figure out how serious this is, from what I can tell the player still functions normally in the short testing I've done . there doesn't seem to be any loss of power or anything strange that I can see. the rest of the component looks intact , when compared to my 2 cld units it actually looks the same because they don't have the piece over the top, but also are smaller parts.
I am planning to try and glue the pieces together with epoxy, unfortunately there is a piece missing so I would have to take a piece of core from spare component to fill the gap, so it wont be perfect.
I don't have a scope to do any testing, I do have a multimeter somewhere though
I'm tempted to just leave it as is and see if it continues to work , but then I don't want to blow anything either...

That is very common for those to break, there are no worries in regards to the pieces on the Transformers! They become very brittle, even 15 years ago. It has no effect on operation.

Enjoy your DVL-90

That's great to hear! I was worried I might have a big problem! Now I just need to get the top rail fixed, I have to get vnl1726 and should be good as new!
