Just got a DVL-91 with no standby light on. I replaced C116 with a UPJ2G010MPD and it resolved the issue.

I need to get back to this project. I haven't touched it since my last setback.

Check continuity on all of the fuses, there are several. Ensure all of the replacement capacitors match the original voltage and capacitance. Make sure they are installed the correct way since they are polar. Finally make sure all of your solder joints look good. I use a lot of flux.

Just wanna say thanks for the instructions. I replaced C116 on a dead DVL-919 and temporarily bridged the blown P612 and it works again. I now ordered new fuses then hopefully everything will be OK again.

I ran into another power supply issue. The player did work except for the front display. I first thought the display may be broken but I found out that there is no power to the display. Seems the -27V is broken. Any idea where to start looking? It's likely the power supply again but a different component. It seems checking capacitors while soldered in is very unreliable.

It seems the only pin on CN202 with current is +5V, the rest is dead. I already replaced C211, C611 and C512 without any change. I need to order the values for C311,C312,C511.

Go ahead and replace all electrolytics in the power supply while you have it out.

I now replaced all on the secondary side but still no -27V on the CN202 :(

Any ideas where to continue the search?

What does primary and secondary of T350 show?

I was away for a few weeks.
Now I just tested

DC shows 0V on all pins
AC is around 8,5V on all pins except pin 8

So the issue seems to be before the T350.

I guess I'd just start where the power comes in. There are guides and videos out there for switching power supply repair since this issue is not laserdisc specific.

There are several pico fuses which look like resistors sprinkled around the power supply board. Any of these could be blown. You can't see it with the naked eye, you have to check for connectivity between the poles with a meter. P213, P612, P214, P511, P311

Coming back to this project after a long hiatus.

- I've replaced all the caps, and double-checked polarity.
- Verified with a MM that the main fuse and all the above listed pico fuses are still good.
- Checked the diodes with the multimeter and of the 9 in the power assembly board most seem to be shorted with a small voltage drop rating in both directions. Only 3 of them showed the OL reading when reversed-biased. Next step is to replace the diodes once I figure out how to identify them.

Does having this many bad diodes seem reasonable?

No, unless there was some catastrophic fault. Are you

Maybe double check capacitance? i.e. to mix up 4.7 with 47.

Outside of that, there are two electrolytics on FLKB on +5 EV. 47uF/6.3V

Thank you for the response. I don’t understand the last sentence. Could you lease elaborate what FLKB means? I believe I already replaced all the capacitors but I will double check.

There are two electrolytic capacitors in the +5V path on the FLKB board (behind front of unit). C106, C110.
