I have a new to me player, as above.
It was sold as a 'won't open' tray issue, after opening the cover and turning a few things that works fine now. Tray opens, closes fine, and plays A fine. DVDs are OK. The LD 'braking' before open does seem to take too long.
It does try to play B, pickup assembly moves to center, but no picture. It seems to try speed, more speed, and then outrageous speed before it gives up. Same in both quick and normal changeover.
I have seen references to a position screw for B, but it's not obvious to me.
Help?

UPDATE Prognosis negative! While confirming the disc was exactly above the black spindle/pizza table/spring retainer, it let go, and now has no legs [I can't confirm they were there, but they are not now!] Pizza table came out in the disc, I found all 3 'clips'.
K - I can not find any DVL models at Pio Parts, where to look, what other gens share same part?
All - ring remains clean and white. I wonder if the pizza table was broke as a 1 way bearing effect, and speeding up was good, braking not - until I messed with it and it finally gave out?

tshephard wrote: I tried Pio Parts to get a proper name. Its color is black, its function is spindle-mounted 'platter' to support disc, additional function is to retain spring, and its shape is similar to familiar 'pizza table' - a disc with legs. Pics to follow... Just verify it is the part on top of the spindle motor disc clamp that has a ring to center a CD and then the larger area is to fit into a LD. Then write me at kbahr@comcast.net and we can discuss how to get the part you need.
