Post subject:  [DVL-91] No Disc message

Good evening,
I am new to the forum.
I have a Pioneer DVL-91 that is not playing CD's, DVD's or Laser Discs. The trays for both formats open and close as they should. The laser carriage will rotate and the lasers will advance for all formats. After that nothing happens. The laser moves back and forth a few times and the front display says "No Disc". As I said discs load and eject fine. I took off the top and do not see any obvious issues.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
regards

Although it is quite rare for BOTH pickups to go at the same time it happens nonetheless and is not something shockingly unusual for a 23 years old machine with (most likely) unknown history unless you happen to be the first and only owner. There is no way to check the actual power on time for this (and perhaps any other) Pioneer model so you can only guesstimate how many discs of all 3 formats it played. First thing you need is the service remote control which is unobtanium in its original form but can be replicated with a pronto-series programmable remote. from Philips or Marantz.

Anderic RMC12010 worked well for me until I lucked up on a GGF1067.

I would think something has failed outside of the pickups though if both are not functioning.

If one is in a mood to locate the original service remote the model to look for is I believe the 1381 with the new style Pio logo on it. I bought one new from Pio when it was still available. Pronto codes are easy to find and free to download once found and the Prontos are cheap nowadays too ..
