[DVL-909] Component issue (b&w)

My DVL-909 component out video is in black and white. The S-Video and RCA still work, but the picture quality isn't as good.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's the component board that's giving me the issue, although I suppose it could be the ribbon cable. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Anyway, does anyone here know where I might pick up another component board? The model number on the board is VNZ1717-C.

Are you sure that the input on the TV is set correctly?

On most new TV’s, the have a “shared” composite / component video input and that can cause the B&W issue. There will be settings in the TV’s input or general set-up menu.

For LD or DVD? LD cannot be used with component outputs.

Go to the 909 menu's and switch the output from composite to S-Video, if you have this problem when you connect to the composite output. otherwise as signofzeta states, the component output it not designed to be used with LD outputs, only DVD.

Ah.

Turns out that the DVD menu gives me different output options, including component, and the LD menu doesn't. I didn't know this because I honestly have never tried to play a DVD in this player before.
