Post subject:  [DVL-909] Tray closes immediately after opening

I have a DVL-909 which plays fine but when I open the tray the motor won't stop even when it is fully ejected and after a few seconds, the tray closes again. So to insert a disc, I have to use the power button once the tray is out. I assume there is some kind of "stop switch" that is not triggered but I could not find anything. It happens with the LD and the CD tray.

Any hints?

Just found it. The mechanism right at the front didn't retract properly. I now loosened the screws holding it a bit and it's working.

Maybe the black slider plate needs to be re-greased as well?

I know the one's in my Denon LA-3100 units need it very soon as it's making it hard to load and unload right now.

my second ever LD player was a 1987 PIONEER LD-838D i had back around 2006/2007 that suffered a similar issue.

IIRC, it had a dirty TACT switch for tray position detection that helped some when i cleaned it,
but, of course, what really did the trick was a full proper relubrication.

i must have had that model for about a couple years or so, before finding my CLD-3030 from an EBAY seller.

as my personal dream-player, i found the service manual early on, and learned how to give the deck a complete refit and relube,
and in the decade since, the player has proven as reliably trouble-free as i could ever ask for...
