Hi everyone. I just bought a 2nd hand DVL909 player. It was working before seller ships it. Now it's here, plays DVD's but not laserdisc or video cds. When it's spinning a laserdisc it makes weird pics on the screen and spins so fast then after a while it stops. And shows like it's skipping chapters on device's display. Check out the screenshot. So what might cause that and how can i fix it?

Take a look at [DVL-909] B side playing issue particularly at what Kurtis said about pushing the assembly to each side. The comments on VNL-1684 might be applicable as well.

I've already read that thread before you suggested it, that's why.

Ah, gotcha . If nothing is broken on the inside, to me it sounds like centering was knocked out of alignment in shipping. You can try looking at the adjustments in a DVL service manual. You really need an oscilloscope, but you might can get by with a CD and trial and error.

I'd wait and see if any other members here have any suggestions or insight before touching any adjustment points though.

Specifically, the 919 service manual may be of more help than the one for the 909 (which seems woefully inadequate): http://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pion ... manual.pdf

I still need to get back to fixing my own 909, had been putting it off during the summer due to the heat, but now that it's cooled off I still haven't gotten around to it.
Need to set aside a few hours on evenings when I'm not drinking...

Wonder if this actually ever worked before it was sent, probably tested with DVD and figured ah it works.

Keep us posted, I'm no tech but I've never seen that type of image on playback, also wasn't sure that these actually played VCDs
so don't be shocked if they don't, or do  I'm shocked if they do play VCDs but then again I only had DVD players when I had VCDs.

Yeah, the 909 can definitely play VCDs, in the early 2000's I used to convert fansubs and burn them to VCD/SVCD since my PC was too slow to play a lot of the codecs at the time. Sometimes the fansubbers would put the subtitles all the way at the bottom of the video so it would get cut off by my TV's overscan, though...
