Hi, i would like to talk about my DVL 909 with the similar problems like other DVL 909. I´ve got the same problem with the tray won´t open. Let me tell you what happend: After 6 months of downtime I watched a double side LD. Side A worked out fine and played to the end, but after the automatic sideflip to Side B nothing happend. The Blue LED above the tray starts flashing blue and the tray won´t open anymore. Nothing worked anymore. So i opened the cabinet and i could manually open the tray by rotating the pulley for the tray. Before you say : loading belt... If the loading belt were worn out, the loading motor must spin at least. But it won´t. The sideflip works out fine. This i have tested by manually turn the big white pulley at the back and after i put the plug in, the motor starts turning the sideflip over. I think the laser pickup is stuck. Normally if i put the plug in the laser pickup would come out and check for any media that´s in the tray. But this won´t happen. How can i be sure and what can i do to fix this? Check your ribbon cables. The LD pickup plugs into the CLDM (main board) and the DVD pickup plugs up on the DVDM board. Make sure the pickups are free moving - I've seen the pickups get jammed in the rotation assembly. Try backing them out of the assembly slightly. For the tray to open, one pickup must be docked and the other free moving on the rail - searching first for LD and then for CD and then backing up. It doesn't matter which pickup is where, but if the 'seek' doesn't occur, the tray will not open. If either has broken free from the M-Holder and the motor has torn free, the whole assembly will need to be replaced (I've given up trying to re-attach motors that have ripped off). |

I can't see where the ribbon cables attach to the various boards. Can you show take close up pics of where the DVD and LD pickups connect to the boards? |

check the final 2-3 seconds of your YT vid from about 1:09 to the end- if it's not the weird angle your phone camera creates at close range then it def looks like the whole turn mecha is not in the correct position (not turned completely) which explains why the pickup doesn't exit the plastic cage and slides onto the bottom rail. The fixed bottom rail is not parallel with the short rail (rod shaft whatever) in the plastic cage. Usually but not always it means one of your long and oh so twisted white flat cables which both are wrapped around the plastics cage is broken. |

Hello, a little update on my current situation: - the problem was a stuck ld-laser. After loosen the screws for the ld-laser i could manually move the laser on the rails. After cleaning the rails the problem was gone. - but a new problem occurred: now i got the Side B issue. As i tried to fix it, i observed vertical wobbling lines from right to left on my tv. It doesn´t matter in wich direction i moved the alignment screws, the lines won´t disappear. Side A works fine. What can i do? Greetings Andy |

Hello, yes. I mean crosstalk. Are the alignment screws for the setup for the Side B the same as for the setup of the crosstalk? Greetings Andy |

Hello, yes. I did. The adjustment works. I can clearly see a difference as i´m adjusting the Side B Tangential screw. But as it states in the manual for the 919 the VR608 is for the Crosstalk Check and Fine Tilt Offset Adjustment for Side B. I don´t see the connection between these two. Greetings Andy |

VR607 adjusts the tilt for side A, VR608 adjusts the tilt for side B. The tilt adjusts the angle of the laser to the disc to be more forward or backward, 0 to 6 o’clock. The tangential adjusts the side to side angle of the laser to the disc, 3 to 9 o’clock. To get the minimal crosstalk you need to get both tilt and tangential correct. Get crosstalk as low as you can using the tilt and then see if you can get it lower adjusting the tangential. |

My workflow is pretty much: Check #115 Adjust offset to ensure symmetry of crosstalk Dial the rest out with tangential and then verify centering. |

Hello, what can i do without the testdisc and the service-remote? The only thing i have is an electrical education and an oscilloscope and the manual for the dvl 919. Greetings Andy |

You don't need service remote, but you need a test disc. For these adjustments, the disc is more important to have than the oscilloscope. |
