hi i have a sony MDP-533D that will not read discs. I´m trying to fix it. it has had many problems new belt lubricant, and cleaning. it spins, reads, makes cutoff, spins readsmakes cotoff on speed again and trien to read once more and then stops. i would like to know the distance from the chassis to the spindel, read 33 mm on another model here Sony MDP-650: Disc doesn't spin up that didnt solve the issue, i would like to make sure what distance is needed, before i start adjusting the laser, but i cant read it in the manual that is avalible here for download. can anyone help and good idears are welcome. the skew motor ect works. cheers Kenneth |

Good luck with this, most Sony players had limited life, Forper has had good luck with some but others not so lucky. Keep us posted if you do get this working. |

I don't know much about Sony players, but it should be 33mm for the MDP-333 and I think the MDP-533D is the EU model of that. You can always try a little higher and lower. I don't know why Sony made the height adjustable. Have you tried playing a CD? |

Then you will need to see if the centering is off. If CDs aren't playing then you could still be in luck on getting the player working. But you must take the adjustments at your own risk and very small at a time. All at your own risk. Good luck |

Yeah I would obtain the service manual that covers the adjustments for your player or one that matches close enough and go from there. Mark or take photos of the existing settings. |

If the above is the same one that is posted here, then it does not include the adjustment section. In the MDP-533D SM it says it is "very similar" to the MDP-515D, so you might try seeing if you can find that instead. |

i cant find any directions in that file, have read it a few times, any suggestions on how to get on track with this ? |

Adjustments are covered in the MDP-515D service manual. It is available online. I don't know if Sony made a separate manual for adjustments for the MDP-533D, or if they just intended you to reference the MDP-515D manual. Just see if it matches up. |
