Hello, I'm new here so pretty sure this thread belongs here.. anyways I have a MDP 200 that when u plug in all it does it flash open. It also doesn't respond to any buttons or the remote. I do know it was involved in a power surge but are there any other things that could also be the issue. I also wanna say even if this isn't the best I don't want the best because I don't even use laserdiscs I got this for free along with a pioneer laserdisc player that both play cds so if I can get them to work that's what their purpose will be unless I get some LDs

Hello,

Have you checked for blown fuses inside?
What does "flash open" mean?

Still not sure what it means, but the fuse would be inside close to the power plug input.

Sadly no manual/service manual available for the MDP-200.

So front light is blinking when you power on?????
Also not sure what you mean by it.

If that is the issue my guess is that a chip inside or like admin said fuses blown due to power surge.

Also wonder if its possible something is stuck inside, you may need to try opening it up to see if you can see what may
be an issue.

Do all repairs at your own risk, but check if a disc is stuck inside and fuses.

What could it even be it's so odd. I'm gonna use it as a display item anyways since it too nice to scrap yet something weird is up with. Also got a Sony cassette player too match.

Integrated Circuit/Integrated Chip = some controller/CPU/logic that drives the behavior of the player when you push buttons.

Electronic component basically.

Doesn’t seem any different than the first video.

If the Logic IC is definitely bad, you just have a player that won’t be fixable. However, the chip responsible for this is usually on the display board so just take that apart and see if anything else around the chip is bad like cold solder connections on the connectors where the ribbon cables attach to the main board and just colder solder points in general on the board.
