So here the issue. I bought this player at a garage sale. The first time I tried watching it played side A no problem but then wouldn't read on side B. After that it won't read on either side. Also when you stop or eject the disc comes to a very slow stop, more than 30 seconds to stop. I don't know if these issues are related or what the deal is. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I really want to get this player going again.

Go to pacparts.com and order a VEB1237 grip ring. Then replace the one on your spindle motor.

Can we get some type of topic under the menu so that krbahr and others don't have to keep posting the order numbers for common parts needed
to fix LD players.

Its tiring for me to keep seeing these posts and i'm sure its also just as tiring for krbahr and others to keep posting the same info over and over again.

Wish granted!

If you could gather a first list, we can build on it.

Thank you for the info. I am sorry this is such a repeat question but I was at a loss of what to even search for. Now between the info about it being the grip ring, which until today I had never even heard of, and a YouTube how to vid I can get this beauty up and running

Well that explains a lot. The grip ring isn't even there. Thanks again! I am off to order one.

 it should be a very thin black piece that goes on the spindle.
