Post subject:  [LA-2500] Questions

I just picked up a Denon LA-2500 at Goodwill for $6. It works but I'd like to take it apart and clean and use lithium grease to lube it up, but I'm not sure what parts to need the lube and which do not. Is the a manual or guide line of what to clean and lube and what not to do?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

If the unit is working fine, I would probably not bother doing anything extra to it especially if you do something that might make it worse. Thus, leave it alone until something starts going wrong with it (and usually the first thing to go wrong is the loading belt in many cases).

However, if you really feel the need to still grease up the mechanism, then the parts you should be looking for are gears and plastic sliders (they should already have grease on them as a giveaway). Don't grease any parts associated w/ a rubber belt.

Don't do it, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Its not a car that needs an oil change every 5000 miles, just enjoy it.

I agree. There is no preventative maintenance on that machine. The best thing you can do to ensure a long life is to run it a few times a week. If it gets to the point where it stops mounting the disc correctly then that will probably be the belt being all stretched out.

The absolute best way to break a 90s player:

1) don’t run it for 16 years

2) mail it to someone

Just don’t do either of those things. :)

(80s players are orders of magnitude more robust in most situations than 90s players)

The belt that's on the gears that close the drawer is pretty loose and doesn't have any stretch. Where is a good place to pick up a new one? Either online or B&M store.

You can get belts @ PacParts.

Here is the one for your model...

It's a clone of the CLD-D503 / CLD-D703 chassis and for some reason they price the same belt for a buck more (kind of strange)...
