http://maine.craigslist.org/emd/4735474227.html

if anybody is interested, this is a rare one. DENON LA-3500 for $85 local pick up only (Maine). Its a Panasonic LX-900u clone. It is said to be LD-G capable(900u isn't) which makes it the only US player with such feature. I don't know if the remote is included. If not, Panasonic remote controls do NOT work on this model.

yeah, I've been trying to get that Denon for a while now. Maine is a little out of the way for me though.

You know, I was sleeping on it and wonder how many Denon made of that model.. I have had my share of the 701/702 clones...

I want it to have another LX-900 based machine and to test to see if this Denon truly does have LD-G capabilities. It does certainly say "GRAPHICS" on the front, but that might be for CD+G rather than LD-G.

And the AC-3 port out of the box helps too.

And it looks cool.

I couldn't resist it I picked up the Denon LA-3500. It is difficult to say if it is a Panasonic clone. I opened it up. The power section is Denon. AC3 rf output add on is Denon.

I watched a few minutes of Ghost in the Shell premium box set (Japan). I wanted to test ld-g. I couldn't make it work. Graphics button brings up cd-g graphics channels screen there are 14 channels. I am assuming this release had ld-g.

Second I looked for the infamous black level issue. I think this player has it. It almost pulsates in dark scenes. Is this issue that bad?

I will spend more time over the weekend. Maybe I can get ld-g work. It came with a meridian 519 rf demodulator and a bunch of dts discs for $85 and tank of gas. So its not a total loss.

Sweet deal! Heck, the demodulator's pretty much worth that much...

Would be nice if there was an easier APL fix - does anyone have the service bulletins for this?

If it doesn't have ld-g, I will sell it at cost. Nevertheless it's a fine machine someone who need it more than I do can benefit from it.

I have all the service bulletins that Panasonic included when they sent me the service manual. Nothing explicitly mentions the APL/AGC etc. issue.

Blah. One little(?) fix and a spare part supply away from being one of the top US players.

I bet it's a pin being pulled up/down or something on the second (NR) chip, since nobody's seen it in the 600 et al...

Hello all,

Finally got to do some testing on my LX-900. Watched a good portion of this cheese fest Image. This player puts out one fine image and has pushed the 703 onto the bench, while being much quieter.

On another note, can somebody explain the different "Digital FNR" settings? Is there any way to turn it off?
