I am getting distortion on my digital audio channel of LX-900 (analog is ok). I had similar issue with my 600 and it was the laser but this 900 (just got on eBay) looks like new inside and out so I doubt the laser is bad plus the issue goes away after 10 minutes or so? Must be a capacitor? I have a donor unit, what do I want to swap out? I don't see any caps on the power supply?

This think looks like it's been stored for years any chance just using it will bring the caps back to life (if that is the issue)?

So I read about capacitor reforming and decided to let it play a movie for about 5 hours straight hoping that would bring the capacitor back to life and it appears to have worked. I left unit off all night and today the problem appears to be gone. I guess just sitting for years and years caused an issue that use was able to solve.

I'm glad that worked, I was going to say it definitely sounds like capacitors. Frankly, I'm surprised more of our players aren't succumbing to bad caps at this point, they usually last about 20 years, but I suppose most of these players were probably using high grade parts.
