Does anyone know how to adjust the tracking/focus on an LX-1000U? Mine can play about the first 30 minutes of side A before dropouts start getting bad enough to cause breakup of even the digital audio tracks. It can't reliably play side B at all. Playback was flawless when I first received the player, but that only lasted a few months.

Other than the tracking/focus problem the player is in great shape, and I'd love to keep using it. The picture quality is noticeably better than my CLD-D406 even though it lacks some program logic that the Pioneer has such as automatically retracting the tray if you power it off while it is out.

Sounds like it could be laser going bad? I don't think it would just come out of adjustment all on its own unless you moved it roughly?

Does that happen with the semiconductor laser pickups in 1990s machines?
