So I just received a Faroudja LD1000 LD player today and the screen and the buttons all seem to work so far, but the disc tray takes a few seconds to open and it doesn't come out all the way, I have to pull it out the last few inches. If I try to play a movie, it will make a low, quite whirring noise for maybe five seconds and then spit the disc out and say "U1." I'd appreciate any advice someone might have.

Search for a SCQ4.0 belt. That is the generic part number available at electric parts houses.

I went and ordered one of these. Hopefully that was the right one.

That should do it, just clean the small white pulley on top of the motor when you install it.

So I just got the belt in the mail, but now I have a new problem: I can't take out the screws. Anything I have is either too big or too small. Does anybody know what size is needed to take out the screws?

I don't recall the size but it's metric. And they are usually in there so tight that I've had to chuck the stub of the driver into a variable speed drill to loosen and drive them out

Try a 2 MM

All right, so I got an allen key set that includes a 2mm one off eBay that's shipping within my state so hopefully that works out.

you can get a cheap set of both american and metric at wallyworld.
or at least i can locally.
good luck with getting it fixed. and be careful since it will be thinner at 2mm, if you use the L shape and they are tight
you may twist that little wrench.
i would use thick leather gloves to be on the safe side so you don't twist and cut your finger.
these cheaper metals do shatter, i just dropped a metal punch on my floor from china and it shattered on the ground

All right, thanks for the help everyone, I got the 2mm wrench and it worked great, but now, I've got yet another problem. Where is the belt I'm supposed to replace and where is the white thing I'm supposed to clean and how should I clean it?

This is the closest thing I could find myself, but the belt here looks a lot more like tape than mine does (the replacement is more square: it's much thicker). Is this what I'm looking for?

It seems a lot thicker that the belt that's already there. I guess it thins when it stretches out? I just want to make sure I've got everything correct before I change anything.

And was the white piece I was supposed to clean both of the wheels, one of them, or another piece all together?

Degreasing both pulley's wouldn't be a bad idea.
one of those is easy enough to remove or you can leave it in position and be careful

All right, I owe everyone a million thanks! It plays both sides great with the new belt. I wasn't so sure about how I should clean it so I just went over them with some Q-tips though. It still doesn't come out all the way though strangely. I have to pull it the last tiny bit. Also, does anybody know if Pioneer remotes would work with this since it's a Pioneer clone? Or did they change that part of it?

Oh right, sorry. I just realized all I wrote was "it." Yeah, the drawer doesn't come out all the way just like before. Though it's not a huge issue since it still works.

You didn't force the drawer in did you?
Just snap it in until the two plastic springs click! once there you should power up the player again and it should retract properly
