Hi there!
I have a great problem.... I bought a Philips VP500, anounced as "working" but it isn't. That's pretty bad and I don't want to waste it all the way, cause it's a milestone in european laserdisc history with his helium-neon-laser and toploading function:).

So my question out into the worldwide community:

Is there anybody who know's how to fix it at the first point?
When yes, I can say, that there's no power supply anyway and no led's going on.

Greetings from germany (and sorry for my bad english -.-)

First thing to do would be to check its getting power to the board. Try the fuse in the plug, try the internal fuse (if one is fitted) then test the outputs of the power supply. I do not know what they are meant to be but it might be noted on the board or you might be able to find a service manual.

I have been tempted to buy one of these a few times but in nearly all instances the lasers have failed. I did find a write-up once in which someone did manage to adjust the laser power to get it working again.

Good luck

EDIT: Apologies I have mixed up the player you are describing with the VLP600/700 series. I do not know if they are similar.

Hi,

step one:

if you put in the socket & push on the ON?OFF switch button on the player,

the four LED's (power on, Audio1, Audio2, Pause/Stop) should light up & you will be able to open the hood/lid...

If not, check the fuse, if this is ok you probably need to replace some BD transistors...

If that's ok again the player would have to start up...

Greetings... :-)
