Forgot to paste the URL, but the full LD Player list should live here from now on:

=> https://www.lddb.com/list.php?device=laserdisc&sort=brand,ASC&max=250 (sorted by brands)

1,221 players as of today (that includes some color variations as well).

Another formerly unlisted LD Player: Fujitsu VKC-400

Quite rare, even the Fujitsu VKC-20 or Fujitsu VKC-300 don't show up often, see Fujitsu General VKC-20/VKC-300

Thanks to drecksoft for adding a weird player I never saw before, a Philips DVL 988 clone of Pioneer DVL-K88.

If you are more familiar with the list posted on the first message of this topic, here is the equivalent using the Hardware Database:

https://www.lddb.com/hardware/part/laserdisc/

The equivalent detailed list would be:

https://www.lddb.com/list.php?device=laserdisc&sort=brand

The “MADE IN JAPAN” thing being right on the front is…something that had to have been done for some reason.

Another Korean brand/model I've never seen before: INKEL

Had to google INKEL a little: they acquired Sherwood in 1980, and got merged with Haitai Group later renamed to Etronics.

And if you can/want to help tracking missing players' pictures, here is the trimmed down list only showing players in need of a visual:

https://www.lddb.com/hardware/part/laserdisc/missing_pics

Note that some references/models might be familiar and easy to find but where are probably looking for the more elusive Hong Kong / Europe / World models with multi-voltage and/or different colors/connectors.

Typically:
  1. Front picture of the player
  2. Picture of the left part of the front panel
  3. Picture of the central part of the front panel
  4. Picture of the right part of the front panel
  5. (optionally) sides and top
  6. Rear picture of the player
  7. Picture of the left part of the rear panel
  8. Picture of the central part of the rear panel
  9. Picture of the right part of the rear panel
  10. (optionally) remote, manual, packing box or any other unusual section (opening front panel, trap to access the stylus/optical block, extra accessories, etc.)

A good example would be: Pioneer LD-S9

What did I put myself into?

With all the new Service Manuals added to admin @ [IMPORTANT] Hardware PDF Manuals and my googling skills reaching new levels to track down exotic players in Thailand, Korea, Australia or Canada, the number of LD Players in the database keeps increasing steadily!

New brands, previously unknown models, and TONS of corrections to the connectors (same models will have variations, confusion between CDV and VCD, etc.).

Make sure to update the missing data on the players you own (or for which you have user/service manuals)!

On eBay at the moment there are the operating instructions for two Pioneer NTSC LaserRecorders - the VDP-V1100 and VDP-V110 (neither of which are in the database here).

But looking at the entry here for the VDR-V100, the second photo shows a player with the same manual lying in front of it. It's not possible to make out the number on the player itself, so possibly that's a V1100 or V110, not a V100..?

Not much around on Internet for these machines.

Pioneer archive https://jpn.pioneer/ja/corp/info/history/chronology/archive/1990/ shows the Pioneer VDR-V100 for 1991. Front panel and back label seems to call it VDR-V100A.

I'll try to research the VDP/VDR models if we can be lucky.

Incidentally, the same section says that in August of 1991, the "cumulative LD software production exceeds 100 million units".

And in Serial Communication with CLD-V Industrial Players, this picture also references the VDP-V1100.

In their Year 2000 (bug) notice: https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pioneer/Technical%20Bulletins/PIB%20%23150022%20-%20Year%202000%20Statement.pdf

Pioneer listed separately:

  • VDR-V1000 - Video Disc Recorder
  • VDR-V1000A - Video Disc Recorder
  • VDP-V1100 - Video Disc Player

In their old Pioneer EU contact form (https://contactcenter.pioneer.eu/contactus.nsf/contact_bcur?openform&sub=pee&lang=en), they still list:

  • VDP-V1100
  • VDP-V1100A
  • VDP-V1100P
  • VDR-V1000
  • VDR-V1000A
  • VDR-V1000P

But they also list a CLK-V950 that does not seem to exist at all.
