On its way to me is a Pioneer LaserDisc Reference Disc (1996) [GGV1016] - coming from Instrumental Parts...not cheap but available.

I made the mistake late last year of putting off the purchase of a Pioneer LaserDisc Reference Disc (2001) [GGV1069] from Donberg Electronics....they are now NLA from Donberg.!

I wonder if the GGV1016 from Instrumental Parts is possibly the only Ref Test Disc now available to purchase at this time.?!

As far as I know. Good call on purchasing one, even if you had to ship it international. It is absolutely worth it if you do not have a test disc. I might even argue that GGV1016 is better for people just starting out. Without a doubt it is superior to GGV1069 on Level II capable players like the LD-V8000.

With GGV1016 it is better to keep the tray in and just eject for any adjustments you can't reach.

I have a GGV disc that looks nearly destroyed that I use for initial testing/coarse adjustments.

Yep from our Grasshopper, last test disc he has that he can let go, he listed it and just told me, I just sent him a message as the price
is way too cheap, so get it now before he puts the correct price on it.

Has a rough sleeve but its an important disc to have if you plan to keep LDs for the near future.

Yeah, he told me he's going to keep whatever sells slowest.

One can also DM him, hes on here too, pay direct rather than deal with ebay, but ebay however schitty it is will always get more sales
and more eyes.

A simple search will reveal:
12" https://www.ebay.de/itm/405622968975
8" https://www.ebay.de/itm/126974915277

There were two more online in the last few days between 600 and 1000$.

And here on LDDB: Pioneer LaserDisc Reference Disc (1992) [GGV1012]

You can also put Pioneer LaserDisc Reference Disc (2001) [GGV1069] on your watchlist but so far none has been sold here at all.

Thanks, dreksoft. unfortunately they are all out of my budget as I prefer somewhere around USD100-200++ but alternatively can I use an 8 inch CAV disc instead?

Good luck finding one in that price range. That will sell in minutes.

No you can't use just any 8" CAV disc. You need the specific test patterns.

I mentioned in your other topic/post how an 8-inch CAV (Standard Play) disc may be usable for tests or alignment tasks on players. I have never had that need with any of the players I have worked on, but I will certainly try a regular 8-inch disc myself if/when the need comes up.

I wish you success.

I'll pay 200-300 for the correct 8 inch discs :?
