To be honest, the mkI eyeball is the best way to find if a player is AC3-RF capable or not when searching on-line.

I would easily tell you that most players made from 1995 and later have the AC3-RF output but good luck finding a seller that lists that bit of information on their ebay listing or whatever place you're planning to buy a player from.

Anyway, not sure why you find looking @ pics to be tedious. If a seller provides a good pic on their listing, the AC3-RF jack is easy to spot.

I'm new to site and wanted to ask, is there a way to search for players that have AC-3 out?

Quick PHP Hack:

=> LaserDisc Players equipped with AC-3 RF Out

Not sure how it eluded us for so long, but the different variations of the DENON AVC-3800 have AC3RF in!

Denon AVC-3800 (Japan)
Denon AVC-3800 (Europe, maybe also Australia?)

Cool design .

Video switching built in, Coax Out so it can be used as a Demodulator, a volume controlled six channel analog input (good for SACD & DVD-A), and some interesting bass crossover option (that 80hz and 100hz switch).

I did not know Proton was still in business as of 1997, but there it is with DVD input among others. They made a big splash in the USA abound 1988-90, and I will always remember that brand from "Total Recall" (their CRT displays on the subway train). Then, they were gone as fast as they arrived, it seemed.

Hmm, after a quick search I found out they are still in business, maybe only in Taiwan (their home from the start) and China. 4K smart TV sets and more.

And another AV receiver with AC3 rf in: Pioneer VSX908RDS (Europe).

Seems to be identical to the VSX909RDS except that the inputs are re-positioned on the back panel.

Then you can easily use the "clone" function and make the required edits from Pioneer VSX-909RDS :-)

And so I will, but it would be useful to put it on the "AC3RF gears" list too. (Gears should be gear, btw!)

I had the VSX908RDS back in the day. How come it never ended up in the list?
I don't think it is a 909 clone, the 909 came a year later and I'm sure it had some
different functions/connections etc... so maybe cloning the entry is misleading.

And it will be the moment your submission is validated.

The list on the first post in this topic is not the golden source anymore, it's here => https://www.lddb.com/hardware/part/ac3rf/

EDIT: I corrected quote a few things (THX Ultra, MPEG multichannel, power outlets, barcode, front panel A/V connectors , power, dimension, etc.) and added it => Pioneer VSX-908RDS

User/Service manual provided the audio/DAC specs.

Yes, that's the one I was talking about. I see it's there now.

This raises an issue. I have a 908 in my possession and there are no power outlets. I think that makes it the ...HV submodel. Do we clone it again in the database to reflect this?

Then, based on the on the SM, you have the UK model and it should be 230V, not 220~230V on the back?

I'm cloning it, make edits if needed => Pioneer VSX-908RDS (UK)

The clone button's just a starting point for edits.

The main differences between the 908 and 909 that I have found so far are that the 908 has no component video provision and although they are both 5.1 amps, the 909 has pre-outs for the extra two channels in case one wants to add an extra two channels of power amplification for a 7.1 system. (And there's an extra optical assignable input in the 909.)

I cloned the 909 too, to reflect the existence of the UK model. I suspect there are still technical inaccuracies in there though.

I saw a Marantz SR590 for sale the other day that had an RF input. The site only lists the SR580, maybe the SR590 is the bigger model?

Good catch, manual mentions RF (AC-3) is "SR590 only".

=> https://archive.org/details/manual_SR590_OM_MARANTZ_EN_DE/page/n5/mode/2up

Added as Marantz SR590.
