Added a new field for the chassis specs/dimensions: Rackable

As in "19in-wide standard rack mounting compatible".

It can be "unrackable" (most consumer LD Players are not rackable) or provide the number of standard RUs (Rack Units = 1.75in or 44.45mm).

Also added I2S over HMDI LVDS to Audio Digital inputs and increased USB DAC PCM max frequency to 1,536kHz and USB DAC DSD to DSD1024.

Next will be HDMI AUDIO (ARC) IN.

Added yesterday (for devices with DACs, as found in the user manual):

  • Frequency Response Low (Hz)
  • Frequency Response High (Hz)
  • SN Ratio (dB EIAJ)
  • Dynamic Range (dB EIAJ)
  • Total Distorsion (% EIAJ)

Ex: Pioneer CLD-D925

  • Frequency Response Low (Hz) => 4
  • Frequency Response High (Hz) => 20000
  • SN Ratio (dB EIAJ) => 115
  • Dynamic Range (dB EIAJ) => 97
  • Total Distorsion (% EIAJ) => 0.003

This is not a very faithful benchmark for quality but it would be interesting to see the evolution/improvement from the first Digital Audio players (Yamaha CDV-1000, etc.) till the last 90's models.

Thought it would be faster to port the disc collections to hardware collections, but it's actually quite a lot of work.

And here we are a year later, but I think it's near completion (for the collection side) now.

Too late today to push a major update and wake up tomorrow with messages that I broke other things, it will have to wait for a better timing.

I found the time tonight to push the code update and iron a few bugs!

=> https://www.lddb.com/collection_hardware.php

The "Add to Collection" button became visible on all hardware devices.

Nice to see hardware collection slowly growing.

I'll make some stats/top10/let the collection be public if enabled/etc.

I will also make the "CLONE" control available to all users. Much easier to just clone an existing device if the only thing you want to do is to add the very same device, but only with a different color.

As of now, the top 5 LD players in collection are:

  1. [ 6 ] Pioneer CLD-D925
  2. [ 4 ] Pioneer HLD-X0
  3. [ 4 ] Pioneer LD-S9
  4. [ 3 ] Pioneer CLD-97
  5. [ 3 ] Pioneer HLD-X9

Another possible next step: linking forum topics.

I've been painfully moving/renaming topics dealing with LD Players as follows for years now:

Now this allows me to easily offer a list of previously discussed topics based on these topic titles.

DONE!

One piece of information we can now add to LD players (thank you kimlaughton):

Not sure how I missed this but, thanks to the topic Pioneer turn systems (gamma and alpha for example), I've added a choice list to provide the optical block turning mechanism. This obviously only applies to LD Players with A/B sides features:

I have to agree with ralfbeckers that the information on Can play Digital Audio soundtracks (DTS requires a digital output) was not very, very clear to understand.

This has been modified as follows:
  • I will only retain Can play Digital Audio soundtracks
  • If player has any type of Digital audio output (Coax RCA, Coax BNC, Toslink, AES/EBU, Straight Tip fiber), the a "DTS Out" logo will show up in the specs Image

Ex:

Pioneer CLD-S310 (Digital Audio, no digital out)
Pioneer CLD-S360 (Digital Audio, digital out)

Having a little experiment lately.

From the device type until the user notes, the rendering for each device will only be performed once (in PHP/MySQL) and then cached endlessly unless a modification requires a refresh. It allows for less CPU and faster loading.

If it proves to work fine, this will also be done for all LD/HDDVD/DVHS/CED/VHD entries to make things a little faster!

Because "DB9" (or 15 or 25) was a little too basic, I split them in Male/Female variety.

Previous information will default to the Male type as it is the most common.

Also added RJ45 as a console port.
