About a year ago I went looking for a complete list of UMDs. I found one which had, I think, all releases worldwide. For the life of me I can't find the list now. I think there was somewhere between 1,200-2,000 UMD Videos.

This guy has 970 English language releases.

I personally have around 100. I know you can get a composite or component output for the 2000 and 3000 series PSPs as that is what I use to watch mine. My friend has several docks as well as one that you would install in a car with a screen that mounts on the headrest. All aftermarket I believe.

Now correct me if I'm wrong as I've never done this before, but I think you can also wirelessly connect a PSP to a PS3 kind of like screen sharing.

Spending ~$100 for a player set up plus $5+ per movie for a format with less than desirable resolution in this day and age doesn't seem so far fetched for this forum or its members.

I only own 19 UMD videos. I could see why some people in the comments of that video are expressing jealousy.

Made a video about UMD a while ego. I like the format and from time to time get new titles.

Here is the proper way to watch it on a big screen:

Still considering buying a PSP to mod, but I love the idea that it also has UMD Movies/Shows that I can buy for it, so of course it'd make a great addition to LDDB

I think you should add it. I collect them and have quite a few titles because I find them kinda neat...only wish Sony had produced a dedicated UMD home player or deck... :(

I think it's pretty crazy that they actually released TV shows on this format. You can even get the original Aeon Flux on UMD, shorts and all!

I use to own the UMD Aeon Flux series release. They packed the whole of it onto two UMDs.

I say yes to UMDs being added. I have quite a few. Of course I'd also like to see added:

Blu-ray (after all, HD-DVD is in the database)
DVD
UHD (4K)
VCD

The DB would grow to 100 times it’s current size. You know this is a one man operation, right?

No problem!

I'm sending you my bank account information for the $1M deposit so I can rent an office and hire people to help me with that ;-)

No, the interest was next to nil.

Not worth the coding time.

It’s a format with very poor selection that only runs on one company’s handheld game system and the video output to a screen is hideous so it’s pretty much worthless and forgotten for good reason. If we start cataloging that then people will want Majesco’s GBA videos and Actionmax tapes and who knows what else.

HOWEVER…we catalog HDDVD which in reality is even more useless since nearly every disc has rotted. A working UMD is still more useful than a rotted HDDVD.

To be honest, the only feature I will whine about not having on this site is image hosting. That would probably get more use than any dead format not yet catalogged on this site and I would gladly pay a membership to have it. A UMD section is mostly just going to bring more gamergaters.

Nice to see that this UMD topic got some action again. I still love the format and purchase movies now and them. Got the first Spider-man movie for it which is fairly uncommon ( the second one is the one you always stumble over ).

I exaggerate, generalize, and demonize. There is however significant overlap between the people who want Family Guy on their PSP and people who think Camille Paglia ruined Star Wars. If you can’t see that you must live in Finland or someplace.

Considering LaserActive and the arcade games haven't already done so, I'm just not seeing it happening. Not to mention the last UMD movie came out in 2011, so the format's death predates GG by like five years or whatever. The overlap would be negligible at best.

That and it's such a niche format that I think it's far more likely they'd flock here just on the account of you having brought it up.

You’re very correct on that last point.
