About a year ago I went looking for a complete list of UMDs. I found one which had, I think, all releases worldwide. For the life of me I can't find the list now. I think there was somewhere between 1,200-2,000 UMD Videos.
This guy has 970 English language releases.
I personally have around 100. I know you can get a composite or component output for the 2000 and 3000 series PSPs as that is what I use to watch mine. My friend has several docks as well as one that you would install in a car with a screen that mounts on the headrest. All aftermarket I believe.
Now correct me if I'm wrong as I've never done this before, but I think you can also wirelessly connect a PSP to a PS3 kind of like screen sharing.
Spending ~$100 for a player set up plus $5+ per movie for a format with less than desirable resolution in this day and age doesn't seem so far fetched for this forum or its members.
I only own 19 UMD videos. I could see why some people in the comments of that video are expressing jealousy.
Still considering buying a PSP to mod, but I love the idea that it also has UMD Movies/Shows that I can buy for it, so of course it'd make a great addition to LDDB
I think you should add it. I collect them and have quite a few titles because I find them kinda neat...only wish Sony had produced a dedicated UMD home player or deck...
It’s a format with very poor selection that only runs on one company’s handheld game system and the video output to a screen is hideous so it’s pretty much worthless and forgotten for good reason. If we start cataloging that then people will want Majesco’s GBA videos and Actionmax tapes and who knows what else.
HOWEVER…we catalog HDDVD which in reality is even more useless since nearly every disc has rotted. A working UMD is still more useful than a rotted HDDVD.

To be honest, the only feature I will whine about not having on this site is image hosting. That would probably get more use than any dead format not yet catalogged on this site and I would gladly pay a membership to have it. A UMD section is mostly just going to bring more gamergaters.
