A friend brought me this Merle Norman Cosmetics controller for a PR-8210. Very interesting that they repurposed one of their own cosmetics case to house the board!

Very cool! I wonder what exactly it does. The board is marked "laser pulser". I know the original Magnavox VH-8000 players would auto-replay a disc by default; we had one doing so all day in the store where I worked in 1980. If the PR-8210 does not no this and it is what they wanted, this gadget might just send the "play" command every few minutes or something simple like that.

I could turn on my PR-8210 and run a disc near its end to see what the player does at the end. Ii has been a while since I played anything on it.

This is my thinking. I don't have a PR-8210, but I gave it some voltage and didn't see the expected PCM.

Is your PR-8210 the original or the revised PR-8210A with the 1/8in control port replaced?

I just checked; my player does have the control port.

I also looked at my remote control, it does not have a control-output jack on it (and I do not know if any of those ever did). The VP-1000 and RU-1000 both have jacks, such that you can/could hard-wire them together when IR control is not feasible.
