my Marantz SR-7015 came with a remote without a learning function after having owned the much older SR-7007 which did have that feature! I kinda missed the remote with a display and learning mode when I upgraded to the 7015 Started searching for the closest match buttonwise and came up with the RC031sr remote that originally came with SR-7009 and some other variants. No 8K button (who cares anyway) but a handy display showing the source used
On the Marantz donor remote:
Used the learning mode for all of the obvious standard functions like play , chapter search, display and so on.
volume buttons are now A-B side functions
Power button is obvious. Next to it the menu button is now the open/close feature for player(s) that have a seperate one instead of a common stop/eject button.
Info button now is used as the display button
MENU and SELECT are the feature i really wanted to save in every meaning of the word… V-dnr Cld-99 elite and HF9g for ex. feature both the Memo and Select button to acces and save the features
Setup button now activates the menu button to acces the settings. The upper and lower arrow buttons now are used to cycle trough the various SELECT settings. They both only cycle… no way to go up or down…. You have to cycle the settings. Left and right arrow buttons now obviously lower or raise the chosen parameter to set. Was a bit worried about being able to learn the jog dial from the Pioneer remote but eureka
Next was the “less complex” setting regarding V-dnr on a cld-d704 for ex. This one proved more challenging to make a userfriendly button layout but I managed to figure out a logical one Again used the obvious Setup button to acces the menu
On the OEM Pioneer remote you need to push Jog Dial first and use the inner and outher jog dial wheel to change the setting for Luminance and Chroma
No way to select one of both settings on the donor Marantz remote so I went for up and down arrow to lower or up the Luminance setting and left or right arrow for the Chroma setting
It was a fun little experiment and part of the hobby I guess. I felt like having a one can do it all remote that matches my compatible Marantz remote.
One can always get some universal remote but yet another brand… not for me. Do own all OEM remotes that my ld players need but I felt like backing up the commands for V-dnr We all know most remotes work on about every Pioneer player but V-dnr is one to keep safe anyway. I like to be able to acces every feature available on the players I own.
Features like LD-G and such are also one of those things to keep in mind…
A for the sake of science fun little project
