The icons on the main site got me stumped for a while until I bothered to look up the FAQ sections, since it is not immediately obvious what they are there for. A very simple solution for this would be including title="" HTML tags on them, with an appropriate description. If you hover over an icon for a second, the text inside the title tag shows up. This is a native browser function and won't need ugly javascript popups (and if you want it's possible to hook up javascript popups into it), the only downside is that the generated page size is slightly larger.

So for example, the P icon could be changed from:
<img border="0" src="https://www.lddb.com/images/icon/p.gif">

to:
<img border="0" src="https://www.lddb.com/images/icon/p.gif" title="Front cover available">

resulting in the following:

It's a small detail but can be very helpful. For example the forum already uses them on the PM and Profile icons, underneath each post.

Actually the pop-up information is not on *each* image on the on the controls at the top of the list.
I thought having a global explanation rather than one on each image was more encompassing.

There also a legend on the left side for *each* icon.

Do we really need extra redondant information on *every* images?

That legend title row does not appear for me on the collection page, only on search (also I didn't notice ).

The one in the sidebar is a valid argument, but people focus on what they are looking at, and the help legends are out of view when you are focusing at the icons with your eyes. This is a UX (user experience) thing, it allows the users to find out about what something does immediately without needing to take your eyes off of it. And consider that you are viewing the site on a widescreen monitor, the sidebars on both sides will be naturally out of focus of your eyes. You have to *search* for any legend (which takes your eyes off of whatever you were looking at, breaking your flow).
So the legend on the sidebar is just "too far away" when you are focusing on the item listing.

Plus one of the sidebars shows affiliate links and after using the internet for so long I naturally tune those out without paying attention to them.

It's not like it gets in the way in any form, it doesn't even show up unless you pull the mouse there.
Like I said it's a minor detail, but it would improve user experience.

Collection has different legend because the icons are... different. And it does appear.

=> As explained in admin @ A few questions related to use of the database

These are not affiliate links but automated links so you don't have to type titles or catatalog numbers in YouTube, Intrada or Google Images...

I'll put it as a low-priority dev item.
But all the information is already there.
