Post subject:  List Titles in my Collection with multiple copies only
Julien,
It would be great to have the option of listing all the discs in my collection where I have duplicates. I would like to sell my duplicates but it takes forever to go through and scan for titles that I have multiple copies of (and this changes all the time when I buy discs). If there was a selection to display only discs that there are at least 2 copies of in the collection, that would be awesome! Thanks.

Hello!

You agree that "duplicates" only refer to the exact same edition, not the same movie, right?

Exactly. If it is the same "movie" but a different edition, version, or has a different reference number then I would not count that as a duplicate. It should be the same "release" and identical in every way.

Wouldn't that work through the IMDB number, _if_ the IMDB number has correctly been added, that is?

I think reference number would be the best one to use as every disc in the database has one.

Ok, I finnaly figured out a way to do this.

1. First, you need to display your entire collection on one page, if you have more than the standard 25 disks per page you have to use the "&max=" with a number greater than you disk total. For example, if you have 235 disks in your collection, just add "&max=250" at the end of the url and you'll get all the disks listed on one page.
2. Then highlight all the disks in your web browser and "copy and paste" into the duplicate finder here.
3. It will give you a list of all duplicates that you can easily copy and paste into any document.

I basically used this method to post all my duplicates onto a craigslist add. Here is the output of the first 5 lines as an example:

LV 32365-WS Naked Gun 2 1/2, The: The Smell of Fear (1991) LBX/SRD 1991-12-18 NTSC USA 3
LV 1621 Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) P&S/SRD 1985 NTSC USA 2
LV68901-WS Total Recall (1990) LBX/SRD/THX 1994-11-23 NTSC USA 2
12682 Blade Runner: Director\'s Cut (1992) LBX/SRD/CAV 1993-05-19 NTSC USA 2
14318 Tin Cup (1996) LBX/SRD 1996-12-17 NTSC USA 2

It's an interesting request anyway, I will try to think about a "find duplicates" by filtering only unique titles found more than 1 times in Collection.

Keep in mind that MCA often used the same refrence number for a title, eventhough other infor is different. For example, MCA DiscoVision, MCA VideoDisc, Inc., and MCA Home Video will all (sometimes) share the same refrence number. Warner Home Video would sometimes add a A/B after the refrence number for a reissue of the same release.

The request came back again so...

Find all Duplicates (in my own collection) => https://www.lddb.com/collection.php?action=list&duplicate=true

But it also works on all public collections.
