I see how many new additions /updates take place every day still and I've always wondered where did you get the original data for the laserdisc entries when you first setup the Laserdisc Database?

Was it from catalogues and did you scan it in?.....I hope you didn't need to type it in manually.
Also how many entries had you added when the system first went live?

Looking at the statistics which only go back 12 months in time we seem to be adding about 2000 LDs per year which is a lot for a dead format!
I can't help but think though that there are plenty to go still as I regularly stumble upon discs not listed and I know that the back catalogue of music promos released is huge - easily runs into many thousands of discs.

The pre-beta history still gives some visuals (in Excel at that time!) between Nov 2002 and May 2003:

I started out of a set of 200 discs (my collection at that time) and all the references I had seen before in shops (~800).

I just passed the 10.000+ titles in the Database by cross-checking the Laserviews Database with the Sight & Sound Database (after cleaning). I have still about 6.000 US titles, 11.000 Japan titles and 13.000 PAL titles to process.

We just passed the 35.000 titles!

Above 35,000 it's all user-submitted titles, all the way to 50,000+ !

Very interesting to see the evolution and to think it all began from your personal collection too.

I will definitely ensure all the titles in my collection that don't already have updates are eventually updated along with pictures to make it as complete as possible.
There are a number of other sites that are borrowing info from this site such as discogs.com - I recognise some of my pics there!
