Question about the preferred way of cataloguing box sets of discs with individual reference numbers.

One example: https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/28980/COLC-3176~82/Dokaben:-Exciting-Games-at-Summer-Koshien is an entry for the whole set, with a composite reference number as printed on the box. There are no database entries for the individual discs COLC-3176, COLC-3177, etc., though they each have sleeves with the single reference numbers.

A counterexample: https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/61913/KELD-1055/Nine:-Original-Version, https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/61914/KELD-1056/Nine-2:-Koibito-Sengen, and https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/61915/KELD-1057/Nine:-Final, which I submitted a few days ago after noticing that the reference numbers were different than the individual releases, and that the disc contents were different in the box set than in the individual releases (at least, going by the first volume as evidence).

Third example: The series Legend of the Galactic Heroes has entries for the box sets and the individual discs therein.

My question is, should I have instead submitted these three as one entry with reference number KELD-1055/57, as it's printed on the box? Or in addition to them? Does it make a difference if there were individual releases sold with those reference numbers? This doesn't appear to be the case with Nine as the sleeves in the box set don't have barcodes.

Anyway, beg pardon if I made a hash of things with those submissions. I ask because I was going to submit some covers, and I wasn't sure what to do about the box for Nine or the individual sleeves for Dokaben.

Hello!

The usual rule (but some mistakes were made at the beginning) is that boxset should NOT be split into individual titles.

We'll have to remove/recycle the 3 NINE individual entries and only submit an entry for the Boxset (KELD-5055~57 I suppose?).

Done => Nine: Laserdisc Box Collection (1983) [KELD-1055~57]

The boxset even had an outer shipping box, it must have been a pre-order/fan club exclusive?

Thanks!

To be exact, the reference number on the Nine box is "KELD-5055/57", though I can see if having a forward slash in there would be awkward on the backend.

Expect covers soon!
