just a small question:
Would it not be better if every user can upload a picture ?
At some rare LDs I would like to see it, even if the quality is bad !

I have send you over 100 covers longer than a year ago but no one is listened until todax

The problem is that I keep getting really, really bad quality covers that I must filter out so keep the current cover consistently OK in quality. I reject about half the covers sent to me.

I try to work in batches but I was away from home for a while and then moved to a new apartment. Moving is finished, will resume cover uploads soon!

LD Cover are a big passion to me, but also a big problem. As I collect LD movies I also try to collect covers, with scanning them into my PC. But with normal A4 scanners you really have a big problem, as this is not the right format for LDs, of course. But an A3 scanner is out of my range - for costs and the size. I can also only scan parts of the Covers and working them together again afterwards. This is of course not perfekt, as the crossings simply do not match in colors and sharpness - well, the brinks of my scanner are not flat and so this can not work...

And though of all those problems, I do the best what is possible to collect those covers. And I wonder, with all the movies out there, why are such a lot of movies in this data base without covers? The pictures are not really very big, and wouldn't it be better to have not so perfect pictures than none at all? If pictures at least have no logos, copyright, sticker, etc. - why not using them? Only as an example, the classic movie "Bhowani Junction". No cover for that movie since a long time watching. I really would like to give one then, but with all the limitations here I can't. And so it stays without picture.

Of course only my personal opinion, but at least I want to ask. Couldn't it be possible to think about to lower the sights here for getting all movies with Covers and a complete data base? And by the way, what about not only front side covers, but also rear side? This would be perfect to me. :D

Hi,

the rear covers are being added & there are quite a few titles on the site with front & rear cover shown - a great feature.

Cheers

Sorry Admin.....

Just sent an email with a CSV of 620+ Front and back covers (1196 jpgs) with a URL where you can download a ZIP containing the images as it was too big to email.

Hope its not too much of a headache in this format.
I have already done all of the filenames as #####.jpg and #####_back.jpg where ##### is the LDDB reference so should make life a bit easier!

I did a big cover batch today and finished with the first 50 LDs from your archive.
More to come in the next few days.

Been adding covers for the past 3 hours, time to do something else for a while ;)

Currently Scanning some more....

I have managed to automate 90% of the task as I have managed to get VBA in Excel to control my A3 scanner.
(Not very neat code at the moment and has some dependencies - Could possibly make to work with an A4 scanner but 4 scans per side)

Stage 1
It waits for a barcode from my barcode scanner (Could possibly do a lookup for the LDDB# number) and then scans the first half of the front side, once done you press enter and it scans the second half of the front side. then again two more times for the back cover.
Once all four scans are done it logs the barcode of the disc into a csv file and back to stage 1 for the next disc.
Each scan is rotated to the right orientation automatically in preparation for the stitching.

Stage 2
A button on the page that reads the CSV and stitches the two halves of each side together using Microsoft ICE that I have managed to automate the loading of the files from the command line and then moving the mouse and clicking in the right places to splice the two halves together and save the file using the barcode appended with F or B for Front or Back.

Stage 3 (Manual)
Crop the images one at a time (Different makes of covers are slightly different sizes)

Stage 4
Resize all the images in Bulk using irfanview

I like a complete set better, I'd choose "with obi" over "no obi".
