I setup a dirty test for a cool "flipping" effect that would allow to display (still via fancybox plugin) both sides, front and back...

It's working as expected for me (back and front flipping, "floating" display when cover is clicked) for:
  • Win 7/Chrome 32
  • Win 7/Firefox 26
  • Win 7/IE 11
  • iOS7/Chrome
  • iOS7/Safari

It is NOT working with IE8.x but this is an old browser now.

Could you try this URL and report to me which OS/Browser works/doesn't work?

(URL obsolete, back covers added now)

Thanks!
Julien

Hi

Great Idea.
Back covers can be full of interesting information and could also be surprisingly beautiful.
Eventually, you should directly add a way to show the inside of a gatefold cover.
Maybe so > Front - Gatefold left - Gatefold right - Back

It works so far on

Win 8.1 / Firefox 26.0
Win 8.1 / IE 11.0.9600.16476

OK with Safari (last version) on iPad
Doesn't work on Opera Mini (last version) on iPad - freezes while rotating. But this browser is dreadful, I wouldn't worry about it.
OK with Firefox 26 on Windows 7 (sorry, I originally typed Safari for some reason)
OK with Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7
OK with Google Chrome v32 on Windows 7
OK with Safari 4.1.3 on an iBook G4 running OSX 10.4 (pretty ancient but can't be upgraded)
Almost works with Firefox 3.6.23 in iBook G4 running OSX 10.4 (pretty ancient but can't be upgraded) but the disk goes black while flipping.

Also (Wednesday)
OK with Firefox 23 on Ubuntu Linux

Chrome on Vista:

Once you press the 'back' button, the bottom of the field blacks out, and you no longer have the option of flipping to front. Floating image works fine.

Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.16

works but there is bug
when I click BACK picture flips but bottom part with BACK FRONT buttons is not properly loaded
so there is not possible to see front again without page reloading
it works without problems when I click FRONT button

Was playing with a dynamic reload of the reflection effect but that doesn't seem to work very well.
Reflection removed. Working now?

Interesting topic. I would love to see not only front covers, but also back covers in this great LD archive. This is what I still miss here. I am a huge fan of Covers (VHS and LD) and collect them where possible, but I am not able to scan LD covers myself, because of my scanners limits. I can only hope this thought will be realized one day, I would be very happy.

First attempt:

The 2 test buttons are quite ugly but working. I will trying to find something visually more appealing.

Is there going to be a system worked in where it can credit two different people (one for the front, and one for the back)?

i think this is a really cool idea BUT i also don't think you need it, or that it will be too much trouble to get everybody to
start with pictures again of the back cover.

i don't really care about the credit for the covers, its nice but :| its more important to get them up so others can see them.

It's just there now.

If I ever receive a back cover in good quality -- I sadly trashed quite a few in the past -- I will add it at the same time.
