I ask if this can be added if it isn't here already - I can't find it. Using the forum on a public computer, I'm always signed in unless I clear browser history and passwords.

There's a log out button in the top RH corner of the lddb.com front page.

That's a good question. The login is automated from the main site to the forum to avoid double account maintenance and keep accounts linked and updated at all times.
But I didn't consider "public computer" access, a "log me out" button would be good for that.

Quick fix added (you were right the mechanism should be symmetric, it wasn't):

When you logout from LDDb.com, it should also log you out from the forum.

Could you try and confirm?
