Hello!

If you're curious at the "pass rate" of the best offers, I generated a quick graphs over all the previous best offers treated since the process it was started:

It's quite positive:

  • About 1 best offer in 2 ends (51%) up accepted
  • One quarter expires (either from the buyer or seller side) after 48h
  • 16% are rejected (offer was probably too low)
  • Reversed = offer was accepted but eventually transaction was cancelled
  • Superseded = quite rare, a pending best offer gets removed because another best offer was accepted or the title was sold at original price

This is the same as ebay, if you don't accept the offer that a buyer makes then they won't even deal with counters or anything else.

Its them or nothing.

I've had too many times where the buyer makes an offer of half and ask if they can come up in price a little with 5-15 depending on the original price
and NOTHING just sits there for 48 hrs.

As a buyer I just made an offer of 14 on an 18 item, the seller ignored me, then I made another 14 offer and the seller said it was too low but
never made a counter offer.

This is what the best offer is on any site, you go back and forth and try to make a deal if you are a DEALER this is part of the word.

I'm always amazed at how many people don't understand the process of price negotiation.

This happens a lot: I offer something for a price, people will say they don't like the price and then ask me what I want for the item. That's when they should be making me an offer, but whatever, I make THEM an offer. They don't like it. OK that's when they can counter, but instead I have to tell them that they can counter. Then silence. Am I supposed to read their mind and know what they want to pay?

Nice stats, thanks !

I know of 2 superseded best offer.
As a buyer the item I wanted was sold at the original price right after I made a best offer.
As a seller I've had a best offer and before I accepted another user bought it for the full price.

In this case "accepted" actually means "ultimately accepted", either at the first offer or after a game of ping-pong counter-offering until both find a common ground.

Most of the time the best offers work better in lot.

If you send a single offer at -15% the seller might not care to go to the trouble of packing/shipping a single discounted disc.
But if you send a few offers in the same shop, suddenly the global envelop increases and it's more practical to pack a few discs together, with a discount, but a better overall revenue.

And when that happens, somebody suggested the seller should be able to fold all accepted offers into a single one and I quite like the idea. It means less feedback flying around but more consistent management on both sides.

You can vote for this and other improvements here: Some changes coming to LDDb.com

 ORDERS CONSOLIDATION was added some time ago and it seems quite popular!
