I know it would be possible but is it easy or worth it to have a checkbox to select if the mint marks are hand scratched?? Just added some missing info to a disc and realized that some may want to possibly collect or focus on them? Or just know how many are in their collection as these are very early discs. |

I like this idea. So far, I have been just adding a note saying the mint marks are by hand. |

Yeah, I just did too but thought what about people who would want to focus on collecting them or just to know which are hand scratched vs non. Its just cool as it was only done on early discs, this anime disc I just received from 86 had hand scratched mint marks. |

I’ve never seen hand done ones on LDs. In recent years all or nearly all of the LPs I’ve been buying have had hand written stuff in the runout groove. (“You can jump and fart at the time time Jake!” written in the runout groove of the Moses 12” by Elizabeth Frazier.) The mechanical stamps seem to have disappeared. |

Yeah I would just to get some further insight on manufacturing. The employee had to be pretty good not to ruin the side by writing on the data portion of the disc. Attached is a photo of the mint marks on Purple Rain (1984) [11398LV] that I just updated. They are backwards on the disc since they were written on the inside, so I take a photo and flip it. This Purple Rain release comes right after The Rolling Stones: Video Rewind (1984) [ML1016].

Well, It adds nothing to the contents and doesn't make a pressing different from another one. It just means it's probably a very, very old pressing. I keep the comments for completion and also the "on the outer ring of the disc" location to avoid updates telling there are no mint marks when in fact they're just not in the usual location: near the label. ? Well it sort of does make a pressing different one from another. They are older, they were only done for a small time and they come from both Japan and USA. Also the one that I just updated was actually on the inner ring, had half hand scratched and half pressed, sort of odd and it was from 1986. |

There are a few of the hand scratched mint marks on some LDs that are very hard to read, very crude & sometimes unreadable. Pumping Iron 2 The Women is particularly crudely done. |
