It would be nice to be able to quickly add discs purchased from a seller on LDDb into my collection. Perhaps place a check next to the order and have an option for "insert into collection."

I do the very same thing, just in case the dreaded cracked disc shows up at my front door

well, I was thinking of the feature as an after they arrive thing. By "quickly", I meant to be able to add them without manually entering them for upload since the site already knows their reference numbers from the purchase.

For titles purchased from other sources I just do a quick search usually by title, scan for the correct cat number from looking at the copy I own, click that title and then click add to collection.

If you have bought from LDDB.com you can just go to My Account - Buying orders - expand the order and click the reference to the catalogue number.
It will take you to the disc and you can then click Add to my collection. So you shouldn't need to type anything - just a few mouse clicks.

It will only be in cases where no matching entry exists that you need to add an entry and you can always use the Quick Insert to submit a title which only requires a few fields.
In terms of remembering to add that newly inserted title to your collection that is very easy. Go to link under My Collection which highlights titles you have authored. Click + to highlight titles in your collection. If a disc shows that you authorrf it but doesn't have a + beside it to indicate it is not in your collection then add it. This works for me as I never author discs that are not going to be in my collection.

Hi Everybody,

Well, on this subject, almost every disc I add to my collection these days is a title which is not listed here. As soon as I get them, I try to submit all of the information about them. Then, I just watch the Top 100 "recently inserted" titles on the home page of the site. As soon as I see that Julien has validated them (flagged out by my username next to the titles), I go down the list, click on each one, and add it to my collection. I try to take a look at this every 2 or 3 days to stay on top of it. (I should also point out that I very rarely submit information about anything that I don't personally have a copy of in my hands.) Some of the titles I submit have stayed in the "pending submissions" section for a long time, because many of them are, shall we say, "somewhat unconventional". I think that is why Julien doesn't jump on some of them immediately. Many of the titles I submit are rather exotic, from publishers that are not on the established list, and many have strange reference numbers, unlike anything else listed here. I think Julien tends to shy away from things like this sometimes, and waits for a while to see if anyone else submits something similar. In fact, I noticed recently that he validated several titles I had submitted long ago, maybe even 2 or 3 years ago! I was quite surprised when the cover photos I had sent to him shortly thereafter appeared along with them! I couldn't believe that he still had them around! Anyway, that's the approach I take to adding titles to my collection. That's about the only way I can realistically do it.

David ;)
