so using the forum and trying to attach an image via the camera or file manager the progress bar just keeps going and never actually progress or stops. I suppose it doesn't actually hang but not sure what to call it since it hangs on the increasing bar instead of stopping or increment increasing.

The bar increasing is just an animated GIF really, it doesn't reflect any progress.

The problem is probably that the pictures on the phone are way too big for the forum upload limit and the upload script blocks them.

The settings of 150KB/pic dates back from the first version of the forum.
Upgraded it to 500KB/pic.

There are always problems using phones on websites even today, adding attachments or trying to click on attachments (to download) are very common regardless of what software the site is using. They aren't really bugs as such, websites would need to be setup to accommodate phone users and their lack of tools. So it's basically more work for site server(s) just because people want convenience (I could say lazy but that would probably offend and that's not my intention).

Some people at my work try using their phone to look up things on ebay or whatever but the interface is gimped so imo it's just a waste of time.

Resizing uploaded image attachments internally is possible though, some websites do it.
A site I've been on for years will resize an image you upload as an attachment from your PC (never tested via phone so idk), but that site uses vBulletin. It won't resize if you upload from another website though, it just fails saying the image is too large.

I never even tried this since it never works on any forum. Off site image hosting has been mandatory on almost every forum since shortly after the dotcom crash. I think it has to do with crawler bots sucking all your bandwidth? Not sure.

One forum I go to has a paid member option so there I can actually host a selection of quality photos which is very handy. It’s a much more popular forum than this though so it’s needs are different.

i didn't have access to my computer with internet at the time so I was trying the attachment. I can't seem how to figure out how to highlight the link copy and then paste anything on my android phone in Chrome. I can do everything I need to on the computer but don't have access to internet all the time on it.

If the image size is the issue then there are free/spyware apps for phones that will allow you to resize photos. However most forums have an image max size that is very hard to achieve and still leave you with a decent file.

Glad to see the size was increased. It was a real struggle sometimes to meet the 150kb size limit. I prefer uploading to the forum directly to keep things documented better. I've seen a lot of old posts with broken image links.

Many old forums are a graveyard of image no longer hosted photobucket et al links.

Or obsolete eBay links...

Should I make IMG non-usable to force pics uploads?
