So we have Lddb to buy LDs. Discogs to buy CDs and Vinyl but where to buy DVDs other than ebay??

I know discogs is trying but I don't know if its up yet or even has any amount of stuff yet.

I haven't done any search yet and don't support people who treat their workers like garbage like amazon.

Your local "cash" store is probably filled with DVDs.
But you'd have to search for titles one by one.
As for buying on the net, I have no clue.

Pretty much anywhere?

It's still the physical format of choice for the masses? Oh but that's right; you want to make some money off those 'rare' DVD's.

Yes, I know they are "everywhere" but I'm looking for those rare ones or box sets that may be cheaper as everybody knows they can get cheaper from
other collectors who want to get rid of rather than dumping at pawn shops etc.

For example the Twilight Zone complete set that would be used and cheaper buying from an individual rather than all these resell shops.
Just like we all do with LDs too.

I suppose other forums work like LDDB since we buy and can trade. They have those areas like bluray.com does. Having worked in the warehouse 3 times at different positions I would gladly burn them. they suck for everything.

Do I smell some bad blood here? ;)

But anyway just really eBay, Amazon and local stores. If you want to deal with other collectors then yes try various forums like xtempo says. Just last summer I bought...hell I don't even remember how many discs but I bought some anime off a guy on a forum for $348 and much of it was half or more discounted compared to going eBay rates...

Must be some bad blood with audioboyzzz.

For some reason my thumb is missing on the forum today, may have to reload or something??
Thanks for the tips, I was just hoping that there was another outlet to buy stuff, I'm not really looking to sell DVDs just find those rare discs that
aren't always on ebay and when they are they are super crazy.

I had that Gunhed and sold it for around 40 on ebay but everybody else is asking 100 or more. Just looked and there is a 50 and 60 now.

I can pickup stuff locally but since moving so low in state I don't have many options to pickup discs other than good-swill and want to fill some areas
of my collection but don't really have titles on a list and just wanted to know options.

Like discogs, I can find some CDs that I'm looking for a little cheaper than on ebay, but then again sometimes ebay is cheaper too.

Ah that sucks, I've had great luck with local options. There is a chain here that prices most of their box set stuff based off MSRP (they sell at 40%) and that definitely makes some stuff a bargain while other things are a joke. They even have a wish list type deal and I put in anything I was remotely wanting into it and got some hot deals that way.

No bad blood; sorry just being overly cynical that this was about flipping more so than collecting. ;)

I'm finding Discogs really dissapointing for collecting Japanese pop music, so many releases are missing and I'm too lazy/busy to add them myself.

I know. it is not perfect. I don't know if I'll add stuff either. I guess the users are limited to western countries unlike here which is better.

Cynical much? :P

Speaking of rare DVDs tho, I've had a non-bootleg copy of Begotten on DVD since at least 2008 and I think I've only watched it once.
It's not exactly your typical pop corn flick. Hell, it's not even so much a movie you watch as you subject yourself to it.

Yeah it's pretty rare that a Japanese release hasn't been added here and the odd time I find one missing that I've acquired I'm happy to add it myself.

I posted the long version of this on another thread, but have an update.
I spent a day hitting all of the local thrift/pawn stores on a similar task as what you're asking about. While I was mainly trying see if any players were still out in the wild (btw, 8), I wanted to fill in my Star Wars discs & keeping an eye out for good box sets, 3D, or odd/interesting. While the shelves are full, it took the scanning of several thousand to find just 2 Star Wars offerings. Persistence may pay off at these 2nd hand shops, but I discovered something much better:

FB marketplace has become a very active site to find some very (previously) hard to find items for cheap. (so far, no LD players ) but...
It took me only a quick search to locate several Star Wars discs. Filled in my Episode I,II & III br+dvd for $12.27 shipped while IV,V,&VI cost $15 & a nearly wasted day of hunting.
I also in the last few weeks found a pair of lightly used Logitech Harmony 890 remotes w/ 3 hubs (searched on a whim)
...and amazingly a turntable matching mine that I have been searching years to find. (for parts only, but I only needed parts; Sanyo Plus Q50)
I'm in Colorado Springs just an hour south of Denver, so I'm sure YMMV, but only the Star Wars was in Denver, the other two items were each a 15 min drive.
Anyone else here tried FB marketplace? Results?

My wife uses it all the time and found me a fairly good shape Pioneer Elite, CLD-97 ;).

I got it for a pretty good deal and I think the reason is because most serious LD collectors are still not utilzing FB Marketplace as much as ebay and craigslist.

I haven't used it for LDs but for other stuff in my area they are too expensive.
Hopefully people will realize that used means used and that a very small percentage is collectible and even rare, and even a part of that actually commands money.

I ran across these:
http://www.swapadvd.com
Says they have near 100K for sale. (1 Free to get you started)
Sister Site of PaperBackSwap.com & SwapaCD.com. Transfer credits easily between all three. U.S. only. Founded in 2007.
Ugh... $4.95/credit. US only

Cheaper (but...):
flickflop.com works by mailing the discs only. for $1.99, or "upgrade" for $.50. US & Canada

...and this site lists swap sites of many types: www.swaptrees.com
