Maybe I should import one from Japan. Maybe it'll be a bit more robust than this Samsung POS I bought from US Amazon and broke in less than a year.

I was going to ask why buy a Bluray player from Japan when they are all made in Singapore, China, Indonesia or other such country.
On another note I just bought a bunch of belts on ebay for my Bluray player as the belt has stretched out and won't open properly.

Isn't that a bit early to get worn out? Or are the modern players not built like tanks and hold up longer including the belts?

Sort of but its about 4 years old, sat in storage and was cheap to begin with.
My guess is the rubber belt is just cheap and all parts are cheap now.

A friend of mine once said "things used to be built up to a standard, now they're built down to a price" and I can't stop thinking about that.

I always did wonder why you can find equipment that can play NTSC in PAL regions so much more easily than vice versa.

NTSC playback and sometimes record was almost standard on mid to high range VCRs in Australia since the early '90s.

I know I never owned a non multi-system VCR and most of my tapes were US fansubs in the day.

I haven't had a VCR for years but a few months ago I got a deal on a nice condition Sony SLV-X810. I quickly burned through the remains of my VHS collection and was hungry for more. There's something really nice about VHS, especially on my setup and I forgot how good VHS HiFi Stereo is so I got a few more tapes and will get more probably.

My VHS deck recently broke down and no longer produces anything on the linear audio track except a loud hiss, which means that anything without a Hi-Fi track or even just worn out tapes are completely unwatchable. It's such a late model too that I doubt I'll be able to find a service manual for it :(

I completely forgot your Sony VCR was both. Are these vids not on LD then?

From left to right:

1. Not on LD
2. On LD
3. 5 mins of total 30 mins on the start of the Minako Honda Virgin Live LD
4. On LD
5. Not on LD

I'm mostly interested to experience VHS HiFi stereo with these, I think I like it better than PCM, it's just loud and feels more "open". Also through the DVDO VHS gives a really nice picture, something different to LD, not better or worse, just very pleasing to me.

I got a new video projector today. My previous one was a Full HD Benq projector and the new one is a new 4K model made by BenQ called W1720. Well, I have to say that the picture quality completely blows me away. The colours and the contrast are a huge improvement over the Full HD projector previously in my possession. 4K videos look great and with the big diametre I can really see a huge difference between Full HD and 4K. There are some very nice 4K videos on YouTube. Even FUll HD content looks considerably better, the colours are so much better and the picture is much sharper. I am happy I got this new projector as I previously thought that Full HD would be entirely sufficent but this is a huge upgrade. HDR looks great on this model, too.

I started getting more into Japanese Gamecube. I've always liked the Gamecube but the US game prices have really started to climb. I had the itch to play some Smash Bros again and particularly the Gamecube version. I got a Japanese copy of the game for $5. I even grabbed a second one of those that I am giving to a friend at cost.

A different friend of mine is trying to get his entire set-up HDMI, so I am getting his Gamecube component cable.

My last two purchases within the last 2 months have been the following;

SONY HT-ST 5000 Soundbar & Sub for £1,299 (retail price is: £1,500) and have placed the sub on an Isolation platform from HiFi Racks Solid oak 40 mil thick four small pillars with spikes for £197.77.

Various CD Albums: Mostly Ambient Music.
Three Vinyl LP's: Pink Floyd.
I hope everyone here are well and taking good care of yourselves.

Kindest Regards

I got two CD singles from the 90's.

https://www.discogs.com/Silverscreen-St ... se/1305801
https://www.discogs.com/High-Score-Game ... ase/245403

The former was a pretty knackered copy with what appears to be water damage to the insert, but the disc itself is fine. The latter is pristine but unfortunately appears to be some kind of an error pressing that has entirely wrong music on it!

wow, that music is the worst thing I've heard in a while.

Isn't that platform worth more than the whole Sony soundbar and sub?

I picked up a eurotrax CD a few months ago.
Totally love this stuff.

Are these tracks only on single discs? I'll do a search later on discogs.
