I have some cheep ones but they don't work with anything that has more than 1 disc. Elephant condoms are the ones that go inside the sleeve, on the disc itself. You're thinking of the baggies that go on top of the sleeve.

For what you call EC can't you use LP inner sleeves too? I'll test this myself after dinner, I'll have to dig out some LP's. LaserDisc Vault had some generic LP sleeves that I used though I hope I still have the rest of mine but its in storage and I can't check.

So I'd look for LP inner sleeves if you can get them new, although I can't see anything wrong with used ones myself if they're clean. Obviously. Japanese LPs usually come in the same sort of “EC” as LDs do. Before they were poly they were a kind of rice paper but you have to go back to like the 1950s to see that. Bags Unlimited sells round bottom “ECs” and they work but they aren’t same same. The material is thicker and the seem is wider making the overall size slightly larger. Paper sleeves are somehow still the standard in the west. They deteriorate and fill the grooves with paper detritus before you even play the thing. It’s amazing that sometimes you even get “audiophile” releases like that which completely deflate any high end cred the manufacturer may have misapplied to themselves. Total record maniax clean their records, oftentimes before each playing, so they really don’t like it when you make the sleeve out of something that you know plugs up the grooves with pulp every single time. New old stock records from Japan sound better when opened than ones from the west. The most recent example of this for me was a copy of the Really Rosie OST which has tons of pops and clicks despite the fact that nobody has ever played it and it hasn’t seen dust since being stamped in 1975. My brush turned up quite a bit of white residue before it was ever spun because this record has had paper being smooshed into it for 45 years.

Looked at another plastic LP inner sleeve, Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet 1986 issue, the sleeve is a good fit for LD. None of my LD's are missing those inner sleeves so I don't need spares atm, but I might grab some from work now just in case. I'm collecting double LP outer sleeves anyway Source is usually classic double LP, 99.9% of them aren't worth selling so they get binned when they come in (nearly always boxed up from the Melbourne warehouse). I should have an LD box set coming in the next week, what the hell am I going to use as an outer sleeve for that?

We're talking about records here, but that's obviously not an issue with laserdisc. I do still want to know why ECs would be preferrable to the plastic-lined baggies I see on US releases as far as LD is concerned. (also how the hell do you slide them into the sleeve sideways?)

He acquired someone's collection that's for sure. Priced out common stuff super cheap too. He had 8 titles I wanted. But he wants TMNT 1-3 for the shop to have the movies running at times and display the cardboard sleeves as art. So probably just a straight up trade here but I am waiting to hear back. Wish there was something I could trade, I need to get two R1 DVD sets that are proving difficult to find here atm. I could import myself but used is always very risky from NA. I can't find one seller with both sets (so postage can be combined) anyway.

^I love both of those movies so much. deadlegion wrote: forper wrote: Cool Deadlegion, did any of those come from Mark in SA? All of them. I don't have any other source with reasonable prices atm. Nice job snagging that POTA box set, I missed it. Despite wanting to I'd never seen any Ape movies until 5 years ago when I got the original film on LD. Blew me away how good it was, I mean just how good the crashed space ship in the lake looks is worth the price of admission. I have to get the others one day. Also nice job on the PILF-2469 Star Wars. I'm sure I checked all his Star Wars listings and didn't see that one listed.

PILF-2469 the cover isn't in the best condition. Someone has tried to remove a price sticker at some point and the top edge the glue has separated. Also general wear and a few bits of tape added to the opening...I guess when that was done the top was being used to slide the contents in. Besides all that it's ok though, I don't mind actually as I just got it pad out my order some more. I have various DVD and BD versions anyway. Apes box set is fairly pristine
