Didn't know that until now. I do like that he embraced it's badness!!

Yeah, I actually kind of admire him for saying no to the glamor and glitter of Hollywood to go make movies he wanted to make in his homeland instead.

He's a lot of fun on commentary tracks and making ofs as well. The image of him throttling the actors on the set of Starship Troopers with a giant pair of bug jaws is something that I will never forget.

Movie : Profundo Rosso (SHLY-113)
LD player : LD-X1 (more cinema colors) and CLD-959 (more crispy and less chroma errors)
Deinterlacer : Lumagen 2144 in auto mode (10)
Capture card : Live Gamer HD 2
Movie size : Letterbox
review in french : https://retro-visual.jimdo.com/laserdis ... ndo-rosso/
LD Quality : 4/5
Film mode would have done a better result, but subtitles are hard to deinterlace in this mode... Too bad that 10% of the subtitles are on the picture...

Why did youtube do that, was it over those videos? Absurd if so.

Because of nudity...
I tried to explain them that "pole dance" was not pornography, and that the seens was in official rated movies, but they didn't accept it..
Anyway, no problem with videopeer until now !

Long time no see !
I had some trouble with my limiting space on Jimdo, that's why I couldn't post more picture.
I reduced the size of my picture by half, then I can post again !
This time, I took pictures of "Assault on Precinct 13", one of my favorite movie !

Movie : Assault on Precinct 13 (ID2304CK)
LD player : CLD-959
Deinterlacer : Lumagen 2144 in auto mode (15) beautiful render, but too much stair effect on diagonales in my opinion. Film mode is great, but some deinterlace errors (on lumagen, not on DVDO Edge)
Capture card : Live Gamer HD 2
Movie size : Letterbox
review in french : https://retro-visual.jimdo.com/laserdis ... ecinct-13/
LD Quality : 4/5

Some pretty decent captures there  I only last week watched this myself and for a movie of 1976 vintage was very impressed with the quality of the transfer. I'm almost word for word in agreement with the above review although if I'm honest can't say I noticed too much in the way of de interlacing errors, although as you mentioned there's definitely a tad to much in the way of stair effects, and despite the mono soundtrack the audio is not bad at all, with John Carpenters electronic score sounding suitably deep and menacing on the intro.

Thank you for the comments ! Yes deinterlace error are very very hard to notice but are visible when you compare few scenes on lumagen (in film mode) then on DVDO edge. (For exemple, see the last scene, when the girl is going back to the uperfloor, you have then a plan with the main character (the cop) turning his head. You can see few lines on his head during maybe 0.1 second.
I also love the Carpenter OST. "Assault" is one of my favorite movie for the OST ! I have to find it in LP ;)

I've never been overly thrilled with these scalers vs an HD CRT. DVDO Duo was pretty life altering for DVDs though, and made VHS livable but I still prefer HD CRT there as well.

the good point with scalers is to be used with a projector.
And don't forget that all HD CRT or 100hz CRT has also a digital processor/scaler built in !

True. I actually turned off a lot of the processing on mine for video games but left it on for the input I use for LD.

This sounds like a very good excuse for me to view the movie again then to check out the specific points you mention. I've never seen the DVDO Edge in action as I used a VP50 previous to purchasing the Lumagen but have heard many good things about the Edge, it employs the same comb filter as the Radiance I believe?

Btw, there are currently two 12"Vinyl 45 rpm. "Assault on Precinct 13" original main theme soundtracks available on eBay if you're still interested?

No, I am now searching for the 33rpm (the full OST), and it's hard to find one for a decent price...
If I could get the 2003 edition, I would be happy, but it's too expensive (around 70$) for me now, and don't want the fancy 180g new version.

New captures this week !
A great movie I discovered thanks to Policenauts on PC-98. After playing the game, I noticed a similar scene on the cover of the movie Coma !

Movie : Coma (PCLM-00019)
LD player : CLD-959
Deinterlacer : Lumagen 2144 in video mode.
Capture card : Live Gamer HD 2
Movie size : Pan Scan
review in french : https://retro-visual.jimdo.com/laserdis ... film/coma/
LD Quality : 3.5/5
Great image quality, but in it's in Pan Scan, and sound quality is quite bad.
The resolution is quite impressive for a LD. I never noticed any stair effect on horizontal lines ! Even in video mode !
