Enjoyed Mission impossible 3 last night. Had the dvd when it got released. Wasn't too impressed with the PQ and sound back then. Got rid of the dvd's a long time ago
Got me the hdvd Ultimate missions box a few years back but never took the time to watch those. decided to give MI-3 a chance and it was  in glorious DD+

Got me the inevitable Mission Impossible LD a long time ago. One of the best sounding discs around. Can't beat the opening scene on LD soundwise  A demo enjoyable disc for sure
a few years back I got me MI2 on LD. Great sounding solid picture not to mention the cover... 8-) Proud owner of that one but not the best movie of the series IMHO

I tried to watch Blade Runner The Final Cut a while ago - turned out to be a Warner rotter.
Froze around the 4 minute mark. So I put inj the disc that contains the "Director's Cut",
and that one still played fine.
So a few days after that, I wanted to try if one of my fave movies is also a rotter, and watched
Traffic (Universal disc) which played fine.

I watched Saw two days ago. I watched the German HD DVD released by Kinowelt. Fortunately, the disc played without any issues at all. The picture
quality was excellent and it also has DTS Hi-Res audio.

I think I am still going to keep on buying HD DVD discs. A lot of them are sold for very cheap on the internet. The next disc I intend to buy
is A Mighty Heart released by Paramount UK.

I whole-heartedly agree. Where I am I can find them for $1. At that price they are worth the risk and better than streaming or worse pirating.

I'd love to get those cheap 2nd hand prices. Here HD-DVDs usually start at 4 USD and increase for TV series (several discs) and mainstream titles defined as good movies by the general public. This is one of the reasons I don't bother buying more HD-DVD titles. Adding shipping or import, it ends up being just as sensible to buy brand new blu-rays instead.

I just finished watching my Japanese Warner disc of Space Cowboys. First time I saw that film. It was an OK film but nothing outstanding.
The disc played without any issues at all. The disc was manufactured in Japan unlike the European or US Warner discs so no issues here.

Ghost Rider, French version. It played to the 90 minute mark before locking up. Switched to a blu-ray to finish. I liked the movie, not enough to watch again. How, what to do with the bad one. :?:

Got the HD-DVD addon for the XBOX 360 and tried a couple of discs in there. Didn't watch a whole movie. (But the Superman disc played past the part it freezes in my Toshiba!)

Last movie I watched was Frighteners. Made my son watch it and he liked it as well.

Gonna do an HD-DVD marathon this week because I have tons of movies on that format that I have never seen.

Just before I saw the latest Mission Impossible movie in theaters I went back and watched all the previous movies.

MI 1 - I watched on LD
MI 2,3 - I watched on HD-DVD
MI 4,5 - I watched on blu-ray

Then I watched the 6th in a Dolby Cinema theater.

I've never watched an HD-DVD, nor do I have anything that would play one. I do own one, however, since I've set out to collect The Matrix on every format. So far I have a widescreen collector's edition VHS, the original DVD, the HD-DVD, and the UMD. The LaserDisc is in the mail, and I have plans in the works to dub a Beta tape from the VHS or DVD.

The Brave One (2007).

Disc error after about 1h20min, but after skipping to the next scene the movie works fine.

I only have 2 films on HD-DVD. Last one I watched was "Balls of Fury", which STILL isn't on Blu-ray (just recently issued in Germany).

Land of the Dead (2005).

Great picture and audio. No disc rot.

The best of Romereo's late resurgence.
6/10
