Wasn't the 1986 Fist of the North Star movie dubbed by Streamline as well?

I would guess that any dub from the time on LD would have the Streamline dub, but I never had any other than Akira on LD.

Ah yes, forgot about those, I'm looking for Lensman to own rather than the Japanese LD but I know its WS on the Japanese LD but
open matte? on the US LD.

Twilight has subs only on LD no dub.

Wonder if there is a way for Julien to make a selection about that or if people own them to add in the comments that it has
the Streamline dub?

Those are on LD. I have Lensman and Robot Carnival both. As Rain-O mentioned though, I was wrong about Cockroaches. I forgot it was mostly live action and aside from French Canadians nobody dubs live action, not even Streamline who almost always refused to subtitle anything.

Lensman: The Movie (1990) [LVD9266]

It’s a pretty good LD, IMO. The picture is quite good. The English is muddy and mono, the Japanese is very clean and Dolby Stereo, like other Streamline LDs there are no close captions or subtitles of any kind.

Do not hesitate to add a comment on released confirmed to be a Streamline Pictures dub to let "info/comments/notes search" find them.

Right now only one shows up:

Did they ever do LDs of Macross II, I can't remember.

Unfortunately there's also no way to find out.

The Streamline dubs for Totoro, Kiki and Laputa are in the Ghibli box.

Their dub of Cagliostro is in the box with the English script.

Lensman was released in the same way Robot Carnival was.

Then there are the ones already mentioned. I’m pretty sure that’s it.

EDIT: and of course Robotech.

EDIT EDIT: I forgot that the US Totoro LD is also the Streamline dub...isn’t it? I don’t have it.

Yeah, it was released by Fox but Carl Macek directed it. You’ll recognize some of the same voices in their Kiki dub.

I massively prefer this dub to the Disney one. I don’t normally care since I rarely watch dubs but I’ve had to see this movie in English 100 times and I can’t stand the Disney one, I don’t care if it’s 5.1.

At the time Macek had a lot of haters due to his hater hating philosophy. I have to give the guy credit though, his dubs are just better. Yeah, their muddy and you can tell their tape machine wasn’t always at speed and yeah it’s mono and yeah he called himself “Director” of Windaria and of course he wouldn’t release subs or LDs of hardly anything and yeah he screwed up Nadia pretty bad and etc etc but the dubs are just better. The acting, the mixing, they’re just better done. Even if they were done on a broken Portastudio. Even Cagliostro, with its dumb asbestos suit line, that’s the best dub of it.

I guess so. It also has a dub for Porco but it’s the one produced for JAL and IIRC it’s not great at all. The Disney one with Jean Reno has to be better.

Kiki had never been on video in the US until Disney put it out so their crappy dub of that is it until the G Kids version. Same with Porco.

To me that box set is very nice because it marks the end of the Animage Video era, they are the ones who helped build Ghibli but they handed stuff over to Disney, even in Japan. Mononoke on LD was the last Animage Video Ghibli LD, Disney did it elsewhere in the world. DVD was in, animation was digital, I kinda checked out around this time....

I would have preferred new original watercolor art from Miayazaki and Takahata instead of the corporate staff covers in the Ghibli ga Ippai set but it’s still really nice regardless.

It's crazy to think that Totoro was originally released by Troma of all companies. Then again, they probably held some degree of prestige beyond "trashy indie movie production company" there. Namco funded the Sgt. Kabukiman movie, after all.

Yeah I love my set and it doesn't push my Japanese too far so I can really enjoy it.

I just recently watched the dub for Porco Rosso from the box set. It is hilariously bad. It's a fun watch with a drink or 2.
