I have a DVL-700 that 'works' but not entirely on its own. With the tray empty and with cd/dvds the tray will load fine and sense the disc, however with LDs it looks like the tray loads most of the way but the spindle/mechanism wont rise all the way to finish loading and see the LD on it's own. If I give it a smack on the front by the load gears it seems to jostle enough to finish rising and see the disc, also if I manually move the large gear with the belt when it's open. Once it fully loads it works perfectly (tracks okay and looks good, laser changes sides ok). Any ideas as to what could be a fix for this? I'd like to not keep having to hit the player just to get it to work.

As we seem to answer this question endlessly, it's the loading belt.

Order a Pioneer, VEB 1184. You can search them out on eBay and they usually go for about $9 to $10 with shipping.

As for replacing it, I'm not sure how easy or difficult it is to reach inside the player since I only deal w/ CLD players but you should be able to search for a post on how someone did it.

it would also be beneficial to lubricate whatever gear and railwork you can reach.

use either WHITE LITHIUM grease (cheap, and readily available) or SILICON grease (not so cheap, and a little harder to come by)
for the gearwork, and LIGHT MACHINE OIL (like the WHITE LITHIUM, also readily available at your local HOME DEPOT)
for the laser transport rails as well as any other railwork that might be in presence.

i did all this for my CLD-3030 some years back, and it's been a total reliable champion ever since...

I probably should give everyone else a chance to answer the question. :)

Nah, I would have never answered it and would have just waited for you. :P

They really need to google or just search since this is the same problem rather than keep asking or whacking
