things have indeed come along a good ways in terms of doll and figure sculpting standards, and their overall accuracy to the characters they are meant to depict, but, really, beggars cannot often be choosers, and so far as my terrible eyesight sees it, this old 2008 Mikuru doll's sculpt just about nails her just about as much as i figure i could ever realistically hope for a 1/6 character doll to manage to;

Quality has went up lately but not universally so and prices have jumped to boot. Some $200 retail figures I've seen look like crap. Gotta be careful these days... $200.... really? I know some similar items can be quite pricey but is that the norm for some of these. Cheers

I know some similar items can be quite pricey but is that the norm for some of these. Cheers It varies widely depending on size, complexity and somewhat popularity of the character as well. The last few I bought new have been $120, $120 and $140. The 1/8 was actually the more expensive before shipping cost made them all basically the same amount since it was cheaper to ship than the 1/7s. I chalk that to being a more popular character as it is now going for over original retail and seems likely to get a re-issue. Price correction definitely happens in this hobby. Sometimes things shoot up, other times they don't meet pre-order demand and you can get them for under retail after release as stores will lower the price to try and get rid of them.

ryosaeba84 wrote: what ! okay no i remove what I said, for those prices, I find it's just a rip off. I'm assuming tasuke is paying nowhere near that for doll bodies. I've bought most of my figures used but totally complete/undamaged. Much cheaper that way. I have a couple used ones on the way that were only $18 and $30 before shipping.

indeed. i grossly overpaid for my first Mikuru at around $150 shipped back around 2010/2011.
years later, i dunno, 2016/2017? i found another on EBAY for $70 shipped.
my other girls were found at various prices, almost all of them well under that first Mikuru's lofty high-point. in fact, some of which were an outright steal, such as my TAKARA SAMURAI SPIRITS Nakoruru for a whopping $13 shipped.
my first Mikuru holds the record as most expensive doll i've ever bought, with the only other girl coming remotely close being my AZONE "Chinese Fantasy Maya" at $140 shipped.
now the aftermarket OBITSU 1/6 doll bodies, well, least i've paid is $20 shipped for the 21cm. that my To Heart "HMX-12 Multi" uses, and the most being $48 shipped for the new OBITSU 26cm. that i just recently got for my second, "best face" Mikuru...

glad you are bagging a few bargains with your hobby.
I have no idea of the so called value of things like that but whatever the perceived value is as long as you are happy that really is all that matters.
A friend was into the Masudaya robots & the prices on some of them can be eye watering but he bagged most (not the new releases) at way below the so called average going rate & all were VMM boxed complete - patience does often pay off, sometimes years.
Cheers indeed, it often takes years, even decades, to get a collection to even approach true personal satisfaction, especially when one is in pursuit of rare/exotic/little-known subjects. the Patience of Job and the Luck of the Irish can be a paramount set of factors in eternal play...

the Patience of Job and the Luck of the Irish can be a paramount set of factors in eternal play... Yeh & it is a nice warm feeling when you bag something that you have waited many years for. Most of my LDs were acquired that way, mostly the F! LDs that are on sale on ebay & elsewhere at silly prices - most do eventually turn up at realistic prices. Contacted a few ebay sellers over the years & quite a few have had the same LDs (& other items) listed for years & years but the "it might sell at the price quoted so no offers" does happen often - most are still listed. Good luck with your acquisitions & happy hunting . Cheers

That must tell us all something . Everyone to their own thing I suppose. You knock yourself out.... or knock one out. Really? As someone else said before, perhaps off the medication again. .

Well I think most people here know that forper can be a bit of a wanker at times & that post pretty much confirms that. Pretty puerile & that is putting it mildly. Perhaps time to just ignore his posts if that is the standard being offered. Tasteless & tactless & sometimes plane cruel. Pull yourself together FFS.
