rein-o wrote: Black magic looks cool but 195 for that, gen lock and computer dedicated to do this I may just find the script translated in English and read it once or twice before I watch the film.
OR pickup the film or series on DVD along with LD and run that with subs separately below with a second TV which may be cheaper??? I'm only interested myself for stuff that didn't make it to the U.S. or the release is practically unavailable.

I'm getting older and I don't want to watch these shows I've always idolised but mostly never finished half-assed.
I probably want to watch 100 shows, some long running, before I die, so I can probably only watch each one time. I want to see them the same way anime fans in Japan saw them in the '80s and '90s, that's the purest way. With LD you know you're getting the intact openings and endings, correct music and everything else. The best way.
So if something is easily available on DVD or BD I don't care, I don't want to risk something has been changed that I have to compromise with. I just want to watch the shows the best way.

Agree to most of the stuff, like some of the rest but don't have the nostalgia for it as much. I do have some obscure anime and highly doubt I can even find the sub files for them. One day I'll contact you about this forper. On another note, it won't really spoil it as I've watched these anime's at least 3 times so I have a very light grip on the story already so reading something in full before watching it a fourth time won't spoil anything. Again would love to do this if its a cheap situation, I think I have seen or thought I have seen genlock's on ebay for under 50 bucks and could see doing something in the 50-100 range since I do have the computer sitting but it will all depend over the next year and finding gear to do this along with my other life hobbies

Did you get it working Rein-o? It's a lot cheaper than the 450 but it does not mention doing genlock overlay. Also wondering about this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultech-ITV-Inj ... SwvBpd94uBI don't want to end up spending $70-100 on units for them to not be able to do what I want here.

If you get it I'd think about replacing the floppy drive with an emu unit.

Need to get my other PC setup and then SSA reader or whatever I need then I'll try it out. Probably over the next month or so, will keep you posted.

I paid twice as much for one with no remote or PSU, it was the cheapest option with deadstock ones going for US$300-$400, you got a good deal. Glad to see a revived interest in genlocks in the forum because of this thread. It really isn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be and makes all those Japanese LDs fully enjoyable. Not just anime but I've been rewatching a lot of Japanese live action films I have that I used to watch raw and not fully comprehend. Man I wish I bought a genlock sooner. What's the best method to share .ssa collections without paying? Google docs with zip files? You me and Reino should do something like that to maximise our genlock utility.

Quote: I need to dig in to anidb today and see what I can find. First thing I want to get a subtitle file for is Gunbuster. Available here, just downloaded it myself actually as my boxset just came in: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... 2/season-1 Quote: I'll happily share anything I can find that is wanted. Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam and if it exists, Future War 19XX are the top of my want lists at the moment.
