Its not about LDs but when you have them as the flip style like an LP store. I'll have to search up pics later. Pictures of exactly what you mean would be great. Was trying to get a feel for it. signofzeta wrote: There are for sure fans who literally buy store shelving and put it in their stupid mancaves. It’s much more common with gamers who buy old KMart and EB signage and put it in the same nerd coffin of a room that houses uncomfortable to play SNES demo kiosks from Target 1991. I have seen at least one LD fan with a room like this. Old “Laserdisc” stuff and all the shelves done record store style so you can flip through them. I don’t remember who posted those pics but it may not have been on this forum. That particular room wasn’t too stupid I guess since that is a way easier way to sort through your collection than bookending it but it also takes up about 20x the space so once again it’s more about having a trade show booth replica or time machine to Dave’s Laser than it is about the movies or quality home theater experience.
I can see having a huge arcade and filling it with period whatever but arcades are in fact the thing that one uses. Games still in boxes or mint condition shoes do not represent anything but worship of things over experiences. Playing basketball is way cooler than collecting basketball shoes. I never understood the appeal of buying signs and kiosks. I'm cheap so I built one of my shelves and the rest were acquired cheaply used mostly off CL but I also got a few crudely made (but sturdy) shelves when one of the book stores went under. I did have to repaint those to at least look decent.

signofzeta wrote: Well, by the exact same logic....I don’t see the point in complaining about complaining about showing off a collection. Haha, nice one, good humor. And ofcourse you are right, you are entitled to dismiss someone's collection or their show-off, even though I don't understand the need to do so, as I also expressed. I find it pretty encouraging that some people put so much time, money and effort to preserve something in such a fashionable way. PS, may I ask what you collect, if any? And if you collect, how do you store it? (No pictures required. )

http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/103/interview-possible-worlds-largest-video-game-collection-ownerQuick search, when I was around 15 or so going into video game stores in the city these were what they looked like. Looks like storage in the back or the actual store with open used stuff on the side. Just wish there was a nicer way for these to display collections. Collections are nice when they are small or large but they should NEVER look like a store. Even if you have a library of books in your house it doesn't look like Barnes and Noble........ And I grew up with my father having a large collection of books, large.......

I suck at Basketball but I got some original deadstock Jordan IVs with the Nike Air on the back tab back in 2005 or so. If I wore them there's was a good chance the sole would crumble. But I wore em, about 15 times or so before the soles cracked up. Glad I did. Me shopping in em on day in Tokyo circa 2005. at a Mandarake: and at a vintage Luis Vuitton pop up inside DSM Aoyama:

This disc has some beautiful cars nicely photographed. I enjoy watching it from time to time, though it's kind of more like visiting a very well stocked motor museum. Just never got the appeal of motor-sports, that skipped right by me, my brother is a huge fan but for me it's like watching traffic stuck on a round-about.
