By crutch I mean they perform some impossible thing off and it's because nt. I suppose it's not really different from a lot of other things. It just means it isn't hard real robot. The philisophical stuff is the best part of gundam and if you are watching Macross and not getting love over hate idk what to tell you but then I've seen that from people so it's hard to argue.

I've seen all those at this point fwiw and Zeta is my favorite.

Zeta was my favorite for ages, back when I demanded tragedy from everything. These days I’m not sure, I may like the original movies better than anything. Char’s Counterattack is also one I never get sick of. It was nice seeing it in the theater last year (Fathom).

The Beltorchika's Children manga was really good. I hope it gets published in English.

CCA is excellent. I really need to try the original movie trilogy. I want to get them on LD.

The Master Grade Box is so awesome....on LD that’s as good as it gets by a mile.

Get something that can play PhotoCDs if you want to use every disc in it. For me the Sega Saturn Photo CD Operator was the best choice since I bought one for $1 at a con a long time ago. It’s surprisingly difficult to find anything that will read PhotoCD, I hope everyone kept their paper copies and negatives...

Wing is just total f***ing garbage.

I swear the only reason anybody would say Wing is their favourite is because they saw it on the US TV back in the day and it's the only Gundam they've seen. They probably haven't seen it since either and tuned out when Toonami aired the original series because it looked old.

Miku Hatsune has been around for a good while longer than most seem to quite realize,
and, like so many fellow Japanese girls of the day, she had it REAL hard for Char Aznable...

I've no idea what that meant, I assume it's a pop group or dance craze.

The girl in the picture is Quess Paraya and even a lot of people who love Minmei can’t stand her. Her Newtype powers are insane but like many people drawn in by Char she was killed in a battle she never should have been in before her potential was realized.

Maybe one day I will understand what that "Lalah may have been a mother to me" line meant.

So I got a genlock unit which means I will get this at some point, though Maison Ikkoku is a bigger priority currently. Anyway, it seems like there are computer software options for reading Photo CDs. The Saturn disc looks like the cheapest legal option as they can still be had for cheap.

I think someday you will. I sort of get it now, but not well enough to explain. Psychology was never my strong suit. Char’s mother was unfairly separated from him at a young age but it’s obvious that’s not the whole thing...

The Beltorchika’s Children manga explains a few things like this better. Like when Quess says Char is “pure” which never made sense to me since he’s pure evil by then.

What she meant was that his motivations, his soul etc were uncorrupted by duplicity. Her parents were both massively full of crap but Char hid nothing, she knew because she was hella NT and can see directly into his soul. Even pure genocide is pure something. Teenagers, particularly girls from my experience, become obsessed with this sort of thing. As they are growing up they learn how full of crap all the adults are that they know. They’re looking for this person who isn’t jerking them around, who will never disappoint them, who they will always be safe with, a person that they will eventually learn doesn’t exist. Char is so committed to his grand plan at this point that he actually is totally pure. Sadly being an NT doesn’t necessarily make you a good judge of character...

Hatsune Miku is a "virtual idol" character used to embody a rather impressive singing vocal synth program, vocaloid (very uncanny listening to the program sing stuff like Bach pieces) and star of Japan market arcade games and home titles. I guess there is some resemblance to the Gundam character as Tasuke mentioned.

I swear I've seen some guitar pedals for her or with her vocoding?

On another note:
Maybe you could change pitch of your LDs that make the voices sound too low like a mans voice

Miku Hatsune looks dumb. Actually a weeaboo colleague was drinking out of a blue and white striped coffee cup today and said "what does this remind you of?" I said the beach. He said don't you know Miku Hatsune??? I was like "nope", he scolded me for not knowing. Then he told me the story of Japanese panties after the war and you could only get white ones or blue and white striped ones or something so Miku Hatsune is a reference to that apparantly. I was like care factor: 0

Started watching Transformers: Armada the other day. Or rather, Micron Legend, now that there's a fansub for the Japanese version.

Unfortunately the subtitles use weird formatting so my blu-ray player doesn't render them properly and half the time there's chunks of dialogue missing which really sucks.

About to finally watch Gunbuster for the first time in a decade or more with LD and genlock. Took me ages to sort out subs, when I converted SRT to SSA I got tons of font coding in the on screen text. Was a matter of finding alternate subs here:

https://wiki2.org/en/Gunbuster

but there only had 1-4 and had to edit 5 and 6 from the other source.

Oh man, watched Gunbuster 1 and 2. This really was the uber-anime. Nothing can be better than Gunbuster. It was THE anime made by fans for fans before CGI. So good. The absolute peak of Gainax and possibly all anime to me.
